: The Story of Eco Youths Network Uganda: Youth Rising for a Greener Tomorrow
In the heart of Wakiso District, Uganda, a group of passionate young people came together with one shared dream to protect the environment, empower communities, and create a sustainable future. This dream gave birth to Eco Youths Network Uganda, a youth-led, community-based organization committed to environmental action, education, and innovation.
Founded by Pacific Byiringiro, a determined young leader with a strong voice for change, Eco Youths Network Uganda was born out of the urgent need to respond to the environmental and social challenges facing the country. From climate change and plastic pollution to deforestation and youth unemployment, the issues were many but so were the ideas and the energy of the youth.
Starting with small clean-up drives and tree planting events, the organization quickly grew into a network of motivated young volunteers. They began working hand-in-hand with schools, local leaders, and international friends to raise awareness about environmental protection, waste management, and the power of youth engagement.
But Eco Youths Network is more than just an environmental group. It is a family a safe space where young people come to learn, share, grow, and take action. The team runs community workshops, trains young leaders, and organizes creative events that inspire change, including art for climate, eco-camps, and innovation projects using recycled materials.
In 2025, the organization launched a campaign to secure land for an "Experience Place" a space where young people can gather, learn practical skills, grow food, and build eco-projects together. With limited resources but a powerful vision, they turned to the kindness of local and global supporters through fundraisers, storytelling, and online advocacy.
Despite financial and logistical challenges, Eco Youths Network Uganda remains rooted in hope and determination. Every tree planted, every child educated, and every act of kindness shared brings the team closer to a greener, fairer, and more sustainable Uganda.
This is just the beginning. The youth are rising and Eco Youths Network Uganda is leading the way.
