Life off the pitch was pretty good, too. Decidedly better. They had well since left behind the days of furtive escapes and what was happening now felt solid. They were still secret, of course, and Charles was content with that. He was very happy to have an universe of his own for just him and Carlos to inhabit, he held no illusions of the world ever letting them have their peace. So, he was fine. Their places were still technically separate, but a toothbrush, a charger, and several changes of clothes had permanently migrated. That's why he didn't notice the cracks happening.
