I certainly get why the lack of addressing Bentham´s behaviour in Alabasta can leave a bad taste, but to me it was another of multiple instances where Luffy is either naive or open -depending on the pov- to a person. He did it with Vivi (when she still was Miss Wednesday) and Nico Robin who he let join without knowing anything about them or their true moral compass. And yes Vivi didnt actually do sth terrible and NR had very solid reasons for everything she did but just like NR Bentham might have good reasons or at the very least realised that he should repent since he saved the other BW agents from getting captured even though he had no personal connection to them. Also perhaps his goal right now supports the theory of him repenting but more to that later in the arc

true, Bentham did some awful things in Alabasta, but I kind of thought that there might be a “good” reason for him to enroll in Baroque Works, since as far as he knew when joining BW that the goal would be a Utopia. You know what I mean? Like “for the greater good” or some personal stuff or so *shrug*

Bentham (Bon Clay) is without a doubt my favorite aspect of this arc. I love this guy, he is fun, strong, smart, determined and he has a good heart. Also Jinbei has one of the most interesting/unique fighting techniques in OP so get ready to be amazed ^^ Oh and I roughly guess you´ve seen only 2/3 of the important characters of this arc yet and you won´t guess who´ll be there to party too..

Almost four-hundred episodes since he was referenced, and I *finally* get to meet Jimbei. I have been spelling his name wrong all this time. This bothers me.

He is also nothing like I imagined.

Ace already told us who his dad is: Whitebeard! and that´s what counts. So don´t think about his biological father too much because WB is more than satisfying as a dad imo ^^ Also I think you missed/miscounted the levels since Ace and Jinbei are on level 6 “eternal hell” and Luffy & co right now I think are on level 3 “starvation hell” :)

And Gedatsu is one of the priests from Skypiea, the one with the chandelier hair that kept forgetting to breathe XDDD

Speaking of characters, my brother and I once had a contest to see how many one piece characters we could name, saying one name each turn. It went on for quite a while, and we had started using names from lesser villains who only appeared in like 3 episodes XDDDD

Now I do remember Jinbei being mentioned waaayyy back in the Arlong Park arc. I was excited at the time because I thought, “Here’s a future badass”. It’s taken this long to meet him. xD

The guy who kept forgetting to breathe on Skypiea. Ahahaha, I remember him now.

Not sure how well I would do in a One Piece character naming competition. I keep forgetting what’s happened in previous arcs. If I entered one, it might not be my finest hour. xD

Bounties aren´t representativ of ones strength at all. They only represent how much the world government/marines feel them to be a threat hence Dragon being the most wanted person since he wants to destroy the WG. When Crocodile became a warlord he was irc still a rookie thus 81million are way of by now. btw do you remember what WB said to Shanks about punishing Teach? Keep that in mind for later :) Oh and I love Magellan :D

Sorry for the lack of updates. I was invited for another one of those interviews, so was preparing for it. Then it dawned on me: why am I putting myself through interview torture if I already have an offer for the place I want to go to? I declined all the others and accepted a firm place. This means I have time for One Piece again! Will watch more episodes tomorrow. Have to catch up with replies first. ^_^

tl;dr version: Was preparing for interview. No longer have interview. Now have time for One Piece.

glad to hear you got an offer to the place you want to go :D I actually love Teach because he´s the most human villain I can think of. He doesn´t do evil things out of joy or hate/vengeance. He´s just following his dream. He´s evil luffy, just more cunning^^ plus he´s the most realistic pirate in OP I´d say. Even as a Manga-only person I wouldn´t worry to much. All the comparisons are done by people who´ve experience both which makes the contrast much more apparent and I imagine it to be interesting to reread it again later on and still bein surprised due to the changes =)

And this is where my Problem with Hancock comes from, she has the negative aspects of two extreme sides one being all in love with luffy and the other being a bad person.

To me personally she still is a villain but the OPverse treats her like one of the good guys. Sure she helps out Luffy, but only because she´s in love with him. She hasn´t learned anything from his compassion or his sacrificial behaviour. She still treats her people badly.

Also I hate that she has to fall in love with someone... why not admire Luffy and take him as an example that no matter what happens to one one can show compassion and help. Heck it would fit perfectly into OP where most of the bad guys in some way or another become good guys (HachI, Helmeppo, Jacko, baroque works) why not show it in the main story after we´ve seen it in cover stories several times.

I mean I can understand her character, that she despises men and always wants to be in control after being oppressed her whole childhood, but we´ve seen with nami (who despite being treated terrible by racists never herself became one) that while understandable a tragic past isn´t a get out of jail free card. Yet everyone treats her like she does the right thing. Even Luffy, after at one point saying he doesn´t like her for how she acts, never mentions it again.

Sorry for the rant but I was looking forward so much to a both physicaly and mentally strong female (and to be fair physically she is damn strong).

On the good side since you mentioned Naruto´s finale, do not worry it´ll be Okamazing...

there are things about to happen with hancock so I can´t really talk about her or the arc as a whole^^ the only thing that I will say is that in my opinion Boa Hancock doesn´t look that atractive taking into account that she is supposed to be the most beautiful human woman on earth. Perhaps it´s because 90% of the women in OP look like fantasies of how boys imagine a attractive woman to look like. or perhaps it´s her (initial) personality which is a huge turn off. Or it´s because other women in OP are more attractive to me (i.e. Nojiko, Nico Robin) but the way women look in OP in general is a hot topic already so I wont start that discussion now^^

Also about Luffy´s intelligence, He´s definitly not dumb ( i.e. demanding a 1v1 wi Aokiji to ensure that his crew is safe or figuring out the gear “system” or Coby joining the marines thanks to him) it´s just that he acts more on instinct/emotions and is rather naive and innocent( not recognizing Sogeking as Usopp). In that regard he´s very similiar to Chopper and his emotions/instinct is where most of his “dumb” actions come from.(like almost throwing the 100mil case in W7 into the water) Mormonga is another great example of awesome little side characters and the marine has whole lot of them.

btw you know the secret about the mark already ;D and it´s kind of sad that you already know the upcoming arcs because that give away at least some things, but hey after sabaody archipel you never know how things will turn out.

In theory Kizaru´s powers should be way too strong, since he is the only one who can move at the speed of light but like in american comics it gets downplayed. Also a little hint for the Kuma thing, didnt you miss something that Kuma usually always has with him... ? ;) Oh and one more thing, the power of bonny is friggin scary, it´s kind of played for laughs in the series but just thinking about the consequences (the affects on ones life like family, job etc) Ó.ò But then again maybe the effects wear off after a certain amount of time.
