I'm not sure if this looks good on me or not...
Or if I need to bring the hem up about an inch.
Definitely take it up.
Kidnapping is the New Healing {Kane & Paige}
Kane already felt ridiculous as he entered Paige’s room wearing a baggy pair of scrubs and a mask. He could pass for a doctor as long as no one saw his face, especially his mother who he believed was working tonight. She could be anywhere in the hospital and Kane just prayed that he was able to sneak Paige out without being seen by her or anyone. Why did he agree to this again? That was the thought running through his mind as he stood in front of Paige and the first comment to leave her lips was about how stupid he looked and though the mask he wore over his face concealed his scowl, it didn’t hide the glare.
"Thank you, Paige, really. I’m sorry I didn’t consider the most fashionable outfit choice while coming here." He would have went on, but he noticed the other patient bed was occupied with a little girl who was asleep and a mother that was half leaning over the visitor’s chair. Great, so if either of them woke up, he’d have to explain what was happening and as Kane told people many times, he wasn’t the best liar.
He didn’t have much of a chance to come up with a cover story for Paige was already moving, legs dangling off the bed. He noticed her bandaged knee and knew she wouldn’t be able to run, let alone make it down the hallway without a limp. That would appear suspicious if they headed out like that, and thankfully, there was a wheelchair parked by the bathroom door, hopefully for Paige and not the child or Kane would feel like a real prick for taking it. He grabbed the handles and wheeled it towards Paige, pushing down the seat so it flattened out. He helped her lower herself into it and then spun her around, inhaling a breath that wasn’t easing his nerves whatsoever.
"Of course this breaks a law. I’m not your parent. I can’t just sign you out, let alone take you out. Your dad is a cop. He could fucking arrest me for this. Oh fuck’s sake." But even though the anxiety was apparent, Kane had begun to wheel Paige out from her room, making a very quick dash towards the direction of the elevator. "You owe me for this, Bradley. You really do."
Every time she glanced at Kane, Paige burst into laughter again. Not only was she amused, she was impressed, because she knew that just a few months ago, there was no way she could've coerced Kane into doing this unless she had some form of blackmail handy. This time, all she'd had to do was ask. And it was a beautiful, beautiful thing. Mostly because she was getting the hell out of this depressing place. Paige had been in hospitals far too much for her liking due to the numerous injuries she received from her escapades and each time was more boring than the last.
"Sorry, sorry, you look fabulous," her voice was the best whisper she could muster, which really wasn't that good. She was trying not to wake up her roommate, but truth be told, if they hadn't woken up by now, it would take a lot more to get them to rise.
Paige didn't like the feeling of uselessness that came with her shattered kneecap, being unable to walk without assistance or limping was a real drag - literally. Paige was an active person, she liked running, jumping, wreaking havoc, so on, and her knee kind of got in the way of that. It did sort of make her regret the mistakes she'd made up on the roof, but there wasn't much she could do about it now except complain to herself as Kane helped her into the wheelchair. Honestly, if she was running this show, they'd be long gone, but she had to rely on Kane for this one, unfortunately.
"Alright, stop talking about it and get a move on or we really will get caught, Asghar. Don't be a little bitch," that was rule number one of any situation, really. And she felt like she was constantly reminding people of that. "Can't you wheel this thing any faster? My grandma walks faster than this and she has a fake hip."
Bursting Colors: Paige ╰☆╮ Amy
Amy didn’t believe that being a high school principal in Bennington was an exciting job. The town was small and more of Amy’s classmates were interested in getting in and out, then partaking in extra circulars. Certainly, there were cheerleaders and football players though that was nothing out of the ordinary for any school across the United States. It seemed as if girls and boys gravitated to those positions. Amy chose neither and there was a part of her that was glad her friends didn’t choose those stereotypes either. “I think he should send you a giant check to demonstrate his appreciation for the humor you’ve brought him. You’re the reason he shows up everyday to work, Paige.”
Though Amy knew Dawkins wasn’t nearly as used to Paige’s antics as the Mavericks were. If he was aware of how Paige and Amy were spending the evening, he’d probably faint, or go into a fit of muttering rage. Fireworks were dangerous and Amy didn’t personally approve of Paige getting so close to them. Talking to her however was like trying to get through to a brick wall that had learned to speak. Paige would say she knew of the hazards, but yet there the two of them stood. The blazing green was fading from the sky above and there were many more to be lit.
"There are rumors around school that state I’m hitched and pregnant?" Amy shook her head in disbelief. Those were new since the last time she listened to the whispers in the Bennington halls. She was used to everything being about Peter, not her and Robbie. Was it that obvious or were people saying whatever they needed to say in order to cope with infinite boredom? Amy was hoping (secretly), for the latter. As much as she could manage rumors about herself, it was different when her friends were involved in them too, let alone Robbie. He was an extra special case. "How could you even consider any of them, Paige?" Amy inquired with a tut, a small smile lingering on her lips.
"You took the words out of my mouth, Paige," Amy then went on, her nose wrinkling at the thought of Emily. She hated very few people, yet Emily had made it on her list, for being conniving, manipulative, insulting, and a downright idiot. There was no way she could watch her best friend(boyfriend?) stay with her the entire evening of Prom. "Excuse me, what?" Amy’s eyes widened as she looked at Paige. "Robbie and I, we’re not going to… not now… I.. not right now, or who knows if ever. That’s not on our list of priorities?" She could feel the heat rising on her cheeks and she could hear the stutter in her voice.
Sex. She didn’t want to think about that.
Sometimes, Paige felt kind of bad for the adults in this town. They weren't there because they wanted to be - they were there because they'd resigned themselves to whatever life it was. Some of them were happy, Paige didn't feel bad for them, but she knew that all of them must have, at one point, dreamed of achieving something more than Bennington, Vermont. If anything, Paige was determined not to end up with the same fate, and sometimes she worried that it was inescapable. Then again, if anyone in this godforsaken town was bound to lead an interesting life, it'd be Paige Bradley, right? "I really think I am," Paige grinned, resolving not to think about what future a younger Dawkins might have imagined for himself, "His job would be pretty much pointless without me around."
Most people found Paige's lifestyle ridiculous or out of hand - most parents did not advocate their children spending time with Paige Bradley, but the Mavericks were no longer shocked by any of Paige's actions and she could usually get them to participate. That was one of the many reasons why she considered her group of friends to be the best - they weren't afraid of a good time. They were different from everyone else in town.
"Yeah, I mean, I think so, I wasn't really listening too well...They might have been talking about Amanda Harold...but I was pretty sure they said Amy Harrison - but I was also high as fuck," Paige shrugged her shoulders, "I dunno, it sounded plausible when she said it, but now that I think back, it was kind of ridiculous," she laughed, "Again, I was high as fuck. I had a math test next hour."
Paige watched Amy's face darken, an amused smirk crossing her features as she suppressed the urge to laugh, "It's not?" she was a little shocked since that was usually on her list of priorities when she was into a guy, "Wait, so are you not into him after all? Shit, now I'm confused. Explain it to me again." Robbie and Amy's habits had a tendency to confuse Paige in general, but now as a sort-of-couple-thing? Even more confusing.

Sorry I couldn't make it.
What about this would even constitute bragging rights?
Uh, me being right. As usual.
Sorry I couldn't make it.
Old and nerdy never stopped Grace. If anything, those are her easy types. She assumes they don’t get any and then decides she can score.
My standards are incredibly low, but never that low. But she's right about one thing - those guys are definitely not getting any.
Kidnapping is the New Healing {Kane & Paige}
It was a bad idea, but yet Kane had agreed to it. After the words left his lips he wanted to smack himself dead on the center of the forehead because now he had to go to the hospital and somehow sneak Paige out. A wheelchair wasn’t exactly discrete and Kane’s expertise was not lying. For small things, okay, he could spit something out, but when it came to removing a patient from a hospital, Paige was better off on her own. He knew however that if he didn’t show up within the hour, like he promised, he’d never hear the end of it. Paige would probably find a way to get another cow dropped onto his lawn and in its shit spell out the word coward.
Shaking his head at the thought, Kane exited the house and drove towards the hospital which was only a few minutes away. He didn’t understand why Paige kept getting herself into these situations. He didn’t understand how skateboarding from rooftop to rooftop made any logical sense. But Paige held little regard for the rational and relied on impulse. Kane knew that by now. He had learned it well over the past few months. And as much as it bothered Kane, he tossed it aside because he cared about Paige. Their recent trip to New York proved she cared about him too and that would be the only time Kane heard that for the next ten years knowing Paige. Emotions and feelings weren’t her forte.
He made his way through the front door and asked one of the nurses at the front where he could find a Paige Bradley. He said he was a friend and she eyed him skeptically, as if judging whether or not he was good enough to be given the information to. She decided yes and supplied him with the room number - 303. He flashed her a small smile and rode the elevator to the third floor, following the signs down the intersecting hallways. Paige’s room was at the corner, conveniently near a janitor’s closet and it was sheer stupidity that Kane ducked into it.
He emerged wearing teal blue scrubs and a face mask. He didn’t need to look in a mirror to observe his ridiculous appearance for himself. “Fucking hell, Paige,” Kane muttered under his breath and he quickly jogged inside, closing the door slightly so no one could walk by and witness the oddity that was happening — an eighteen year old pretending to be a medical doctor. He was sure that was illegal which didn’t make the situation any better.
"We have to make this quick," Kane exhaled, removing the strings of the mask that were wrapped around his ears. He locked gazes with Paige and couldn’t help the laugh that escaped his lips, yet it was more of a scoff — a sound that suggested he couldn’t believe what he was doing on a Sunday afternoon. "My mom is working today and she can be anywhere. Secondly, this is wrong, like fucking law breaking wrong, you know that?" And Kane knew that Paige did, but that never stopped her from having a good time. It also wasn’t preventing him from being there. Bottom line: he was an idiot.
Paige knew Kane would agree. After all, he'd said he would - he was down for anything that wouldn't get him put in jail, and she was pretty sure that this couldn't get anyone put in jail. At best, they'd get strongly reprimanded or something. Of course, the plan was a bit far-fetched and definitely complicated for an amateur, but after the Betsy incident, Paige was positive that Kane could pull it off. Besides, she was getting desperate. Hospitals were endlessly boring and she'd take any opportunity she could in order to get out and have some kind of fun.
Her parents had both been by and her mom had spent a lot of time there, but she was at some book club thing and her dad was at work. After you'd past ten times in the hospital, your parents started to care a little less about your broken arm. Unless it was fatal, she doubted they'd be concerned. The girl she was sharing the room with was seven, had broken three ribs crashing her Barbie jeep, and was fast asleep. And so was her mother, who'd been up all night. Which meant their escape would have to be fairly quiet, but it wasn't impossible.
In all honesty, Paige did feel kind of stupid about the accident, especially since she'd missed the bonfire because of it, and while she truly didn't find it a big deal, it was somewhat humiliating. Also, she really hated hospitals, simply because they were so boring - there was nothing to do. Before she could bitch about it further, Kane appeared in the door, clad in scrubs, and Paige was laughing before she could even utter a proper greeting. "God, you look fucking ridiculous," she grinned, sitting up and dangling her legs over the side of the bed.
"Quick I can do. Except if I have to run," she motioned to her bandaged knee. It wasn't that bad, really, she'd be able to walk on it in a week or two probably, but it was annoying as hell. "Wait, this is breaking a law? Cool," it was then that breaking out of the hospital got twice as exciting, "Let's go then, what are you waiting for?"
Sorry I couldn't make it.
Never. You’re the most sensible person I know.
On a roof? Paige, are you crazy?
Of course, you can always count on me to make the responsible choice.
Do you really even have to ask?
Sorry I couldn't make it.
I rightfully did sass her. There is only so much I can put up with when it comes to that woman.
As for Grace, it was something about being too forward with a male teacher. We all know what that means.
She's probably just in a bad mood that her pet dinosaur died or some shit. Ah, typical Grace. I love her, but I can't think of a male teacher that isn't a total nerd. Also, old.
Sorry I couldn't make it.
I just don’t see how it proves anything.
All I can see is that you’re trying to make me look ridiculous.
Alright, fine, honestly I'd be happy if it were just for bragging rights. 'Cause I fucking love bragging rights.
phone call: wyatt and paige
Wyatt: .... Alright, fine.
Paige: I was hoping you'd say that! Have I ever told you I love you? Because I do. I would also recommend dressing like it is the morning after from the wildest party of your life or like you have just gotten into a fight with a large mountain lion. Remember to be on your absolute worst behavior, I'd love a chance to scare my dad shitless, thank you. See you tomorrow at seven!
Sorry I couldn't make it.
If the clothes label doesn’t rhyme with Gucci or Prada or whoever makes clothes, she doesn’t value them much. Did I tell you I got stuck in detention with her a few weeks ago? I was tempted to slam my head into a book.
Captain Kane Asghar. I like that. It has a nice ring to it.
Wait, you got detention, what for? Grace is an easy guess, dress code violation, probably. Did you sass Berkins again? God, Ames, you're my hero.
Sorry I couldn't make it.
I think you’d pull it off better and you can tell Grace I said that.
She also told Kane he was a pirate. Her opinions are rather unique.
Better than Grace? Hell yeah, I should probably get some kind of award for that. Then again, I don't think she'd even look at it if it wasn't designer.
A pirate? Damn, I wish Kane was a pirate, that'd be hella cool.
Bursting Colors: Paige ╰☆╮ Amy
The story of the cow was one of Amy’s favorites. Hearing about it in the halls of Bennington High also made her day a little bit better. She was in on a secret that everyone was trying to figure out. A few suspected Paige. Her name was heard a few times, though there was no proof to support the claim. Without evidence, the accusation was as solid as water. Amy didn’t approve often of pranks or troublesome acts, however, leaving Betsy in Dawkins’ office was something that made her laugh for a solid five minutes. She imagined the principal’s reaction, what Paige had to undergo to get Kane to agree, and the overall image of them bringing the cow to the school.
"You conditioned Dawkins to be afraid of cows, well done. They really aren’t harmful creatures. They have a good kick, but I’m sure Dawkins was more terrified of Betsy, then Betsy was of Dawkins. He’s not that scary of a guy. He’s only had a stressful year, no thanks to you." She tossed Paige a wink. Her specialty was causing havoc, but this year the spotlight was shared with Robbie and Jordan, one jumping into the fountain, the other setting fire to the trashcan. It was a miracle Dawkins hadn’t gone into early retirement.
Paige didn’t stop speaking as she ran towards the fireworks and the bottom of one was lit. Amy watched the fire run down the chord and then heard the loud boom that the item released into the air. Her friend was still close to the explosion when it went off. Amy watched with widened eyes. Thankfully, there was no harm done, only a picture of color painted into the sky. Bright green.
"You are insane. I hope you know that." Amy pointed out. She couldn’t deny she liked the various pictures and hues that fireworks could create. Doing them without a license, in the middle of nowhere, with no experience was dangerous. That didn’t and wouldn’t stop Paige as much as Amy could go on a lecture about the hazards and precautions to be taken. She found it little use. She also found it little use when she wanted to not waste time lecturing, instead catching up.
"I don’t have much to tell. I’ve been hanging out at Robbie’s, which is nothing new. We’ve gotten closer since Prom, since I was the one who successfully pulled him away from the clutches of Emily." She drew in her bottom lip between her teeth, beating around the bush. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust Paige, she simply grew nervous when discussing that her and Robbie were a thing (sort of, not properly elaborated upon.) "I consider that a win on my behalf."
Paige laughed, "His life would be pretty lame if we weren't around, in all honesty. Dawkins needs us. The stress is probably good for him, he is the high school principal in Bennington, Vermont. We're extremely important to his well-being. Someday he'll realize he owes me a great debt," she rambled, shrugging her shoulders. The prospect of being an adult was terrifying to Paige and that was one of the many reasons. Being boring. The last thing she wanted was to be like her parents, living in the same mundane routine over and over again.
Standing beside Amy, her breath still came out ragged from her hurried sprint away from the explosive, but she still managed to smile and respond, "Trust me, I'm well aware." Paige however, was not really aware of the dangers that this activity presented, but she didn't really care. The idea that fireworks were actually dangerous was not of great concern to her and probably never would be. After all, nothing bad had happened before, right? The fact that this land was also not theirs was another thing that really didn't concern Paige. By the look of the grass, no one really cared.
"Wait, you guys are a thing now, right?" Paige paused, for a while, she'd thought they'd already been dating for like, two years. "Does that mean you actually got married? Naomi Sanders told me you did, Jessica said you were pregnant, but I didn't think that one was true, it was too far-fetched. Paige didn't actually know that much about what had happened with Robbie and Amy and mostly relied on guesswork to draw her own conclusions. All of which were probably more interesting than the real situation anyway.
"Have to thank you for the Emily thing, though, she's a total bitch," Paige shrugged, "Hopefully after graduation she figures out how to get that stick out of her ass or she's gonna have some trouble out in the world." Paige exhaled, offering an unlit firework to Amy, "Bout time Robbie lost his virginity anyway, I was starting to get worried about him."
Sorry I couldn't make it.
But I am. It’s not like you, Paige Bradley.
But for real, what were you doing that you had to go to ER?
I know, usually I never make reckless decisions.
Skateboarding. On a roof. No biggie, got a bit scraped up.
