Liquor Courage: Ella & Kane
kane-asghar:
There was a satisfied smile on her lips, animated eyes beaming with so much excitement that it was impossible for it to go unseen. Ella watched Kane throw down his shot, the same smile on her lips widening into a grin. She wanted nothing more than for him to loosen up, and by the looks of it, that’s exactly what he was doing—slowly, but surely. By the end of the night, Ella would make sure all his troubles were long forgotten, just as hers always were. The only difference between the two of them tomorrow, was that Kane might be faced with the reality of them once the sun came up and a very sober version of himself threw his covers back. But Ella? Once she forgot her troubles, she forgot. There was no remembering them.
"Disappointing.. for her.” Stirring the straw in her drink, Ella turned her attention back to the young girl across the way, and gave a half shrug of her shoulder as she leaned more towards Kane, so that hearing her wasn’t a struggle. “I don’t mind I just think it’s unfortunate for everyone else here that I get to have you all to myself. Gah, I care too much when I drink, look at me—where did the selfish part of me go? I should be happy you’re all mine for the night, and I’m all yours if you want me.” Teasing, Ella played with the straw between her teeth, every now and them wrapping her lips around it for a few sips as she sat next to Kane in between thoughts. What was it? What was it causing this shit mood? “If I keep asking you what’s really wrong, are you going to think I’m annoying?” She asked, boldly moving her fingers to a piece of dark hair and brushing it away from his face.
Kane wasn't thinking about the girl whose eyes were focused on him. He could feel them brushing against his skin, peaking to see if he and Ella were a couple and that was what prevented Kane from pursuing interest. The thing about people, a fascination to Kane at times, was everyone had a story even eclipsed in a mutual setting. What may come across as disinterest on Kane's behalf was actually emotions torn apart and left undone beneath the surface of his being. Buzzing, rattling, making the thought of even considering someone else in that manner incomprehensible.
But he couldn't focus too long on that because Ella was exceptionally close to him. He could smell the scent of her hair as it brushed against his skin -- pink and purple streaks atop his golden skin. She was pretty. She was different in every sense of the word. And if life had lined itself up in a manner that wasn't Kane had broken up with Jake, had involvement with Blaise, so on and so forth, Kane would probably try to reach a point of intimacy with her. Regardless of the fact their personalities were on opposite ends of the spectrum.
"I guess the person who's upset most by you being here with me tonight is that girl over there. But if it makes you feel better, I have no interest in going elsewhere." He offered Ella a smile, took the next drink of the many Ella ordered and sipped it. Like the previous, it burned as it went down, though Kane stopped caring so much -- became immune.
He blinked in surprise as Ella's finger pushed a strand of hair from his face and asked a rather bold question. He wasn't used to that kind of courage, being so assured where boundaries weren't really a factor. He turned to her and shook his head in response. "No. I won't. You can ask if you want. I can't say I'll tell you, but I mean, we are at a bar and usually secrets come out, don't they?" Kane chuckled, his own inquiry being pulled from his high. He didn't want to talk. He just wanted to escape. He didn't know how far Ella would push him.

(several minutes later)
Ella: It doesn't have to stop us from being friends but I'm pretty sure keeping Blaise 200 feet away is going to be harder now.
Kane: So the problem is basically Blaise?
Kane: I don't want you feeling uncomfortable around me because of him. I mean, if we were to hang out, it wouldn't be with him. That would be way too... awkward.
kane-asghar:
Fiery destruction is the exact opposite of fun.Â
It’s all of the escapism of a good book, but with half of the work.Â
Once again, point well made.
There's no effort needed on your part other than to press a few buttons.
kane-asghar:
Thank God for him. Yeah, just before I go I’ll give them a farewell fuck you.
I want to be present for that. Because that is long overdue.
Mom’s already gone crazy with decorating our house for Halloween. I can tell she was excited for October the minute she got all her gigantic totes of decorations out.
I like Halloween, man. It's fun to see how far some of the houses go. You can tell who are the conservative type just by driving through the streets. How's your house looking at the moment?
kane-asghar:
You and all the rest of us. I’d prefer if the world stayed un-burned during my life time, thank you very much.Â
It’d probably be good exercise, though. Not that I’m going to be involved in a marathon that isn’t Netflix related anytime soon, but still.Â
I agree too. I don't want to imagine running for my life in a fiery apocalypse.
Hey, there's nothing wrong with Netflix. You can melt into your couch for five hours and not know what happened around you.
kane-asghar:
Wow, man. I mean, I can’t say you didn’t warn me about your feelings. Must have been a lot stronger than I realized. If you’re happy though… who am I to judge? Just.. be careful.
It's complicated. Like most of my feelings are. But I do care about him, you know? Be careful? Why be careful?
Tell you all about it || Jake & Kane
kane-asghar:
"Sure." Jake smiled at the suggestion, the same thing he did with Amy a couple of nights ago. He got up from the couch, heading for the TV. He knew exactly what he was going to play, so a couple of minutes later, Lord of the Rings was on the screen and Jake was back on the couch. "Hope you’re rested. We can make some food later, too, or something." Jake smiled at Kane, leaning against the couch, making himself comfortable.
Kane chuckled at the movie Jake chose. He couldn't expect anything less especially with the conversation in mind a few days prior. He stroked his chin, pretending to think. "I'm pretty sure that I'm rested so I should be able to last through them. I promise. As I told you, it's become one of my favorite series so, I can manage." He smiled at Jake, feeling comfort in this moment, that even though Jake was leaving, things would be okay between them. And hopefully, California would too.
kane-asghar:
Well, that’s what happens when you pretend history doesn’t exist. You can’t learn from your mistakes and you destroy your entire civilization. Ain’t life grand?Â
Sounds great. I feel much more at ease knowing that I don’t have to worry about that particular outcome.Â
Oh yeah, that's entirely how it goes. Continue on in your rage and watch the world burn. I'll pass.
Same here. Let's hope it stays that way for the both of us.
kane-asghar:
Thanks. I hope so, too. I just don’t want to go away and then come back, defeated, again.
I know. I don't want that for you either. But you have your brother. You have a lot of things working for you. Tell your parents to go shove it, yeah?
Text: Ella
Ella: You being with him doesn't really bother me it was the whole not telling me part. I just thought if we were friends or whatever we were, and that was like code. Bro code. Whatever code.
Ella: I just would have rather heard it from you than to hear it from him.
Kane: I'm sorry that me not telling you bothered you, but I don't understand why that should stop us from being friends.
Kane: I want to work this out, Ella.
Text: Ella
Ella: Didn't think there was really anything left to say. We sort of said it all.
Kane: It could have been said better, I guess.
Kane: Look, I'm sorry for not telling you about my relation to Blaise, okay? I just figured that Blaise wasn't someone you'd want to talk about, let alone that it would have bothered you so much.
Text: Ella
Ella: Do what?
Kane: Not talk about what happened.
Text: Ella
Ella: Okay.
Kane: Are we really going to do this Ella?
kane-asghar:
His fur is pretty matted and dirty but I’m just hoping he’s in a bad need of a bath.Â
If our family dog ever got this bad my mom would flip.Â
If he's a stray, you can't be too sure, but yeah I hope that's only the case too.
Yeah, so would my mom. Well, my dad would probably snap first -- go on and on about responsibility.

Ella: Wrong number.
Kane: Right.. okay.
