H I A T U S
Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been on. I recently had to move out of my mom's house because she's been abusive for so long, and I am just now settling in at my friend's house. So until things are less crazy, I'm going to be putting this blog on a hiatus. Feel free to message me for my aim or Skype names because, I could really use people to talk to. I hope to be back before school ends.
replies in the morning- i had to help my little sister with a project and it took way longer than i thought it would.
What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again.
Peeta looked up through the widow of his parent's bakery to see Madge looking through the glass at a nearby pastry. Smiling as their eyes met, he waved. He set his freshly frosted cake on it's stand before heading outside to catch her.
“I like when you smile.”

It wasn’t everyday that Madge Undersee was complemented in such an honest and innocent, especially not by someone who as who as well known as Peeta Mellark. “Thank you. —— Where is this coming from?”
Peeta shrugged, a soft smile of his own pulling at his lips as the light pink color rose on her cheeks.
"I"ve always liked your smile-- I just thought I'd tell you.."

She rested into his side, her head gently settling to his shoulder. The fears and scare of her nightmare soon fading while she listened to his steady heart beat. “Thank you.” Her voice broke to a mutter, worn out by her screams. “Were you sleeping before?” Asking while she figured there was no chance of fall back asleep as the images still burned in her mind.
His arm rested comfortably around her shoulders, hand smoothing over her hair before a soft sigh passed his lips. Just moments before he'd heard her screams, he'd awoken from his own nightmare- but as he laid there with her his heart begun to slow it's racing, knowing that she was safe here in his arms. "Anytime Katniss." Peeta responded, voice soft.
"No. I don't really get much sleep since the games." He admitted, having never really told anyone about them before. He knew it was a common side effect of being a victor but, he'd hoped they would at least lessen as time went by.

Biting the nail of her thumb nervously, Katniss tried in vain to ease some of this guilt and the constant turmoil that lived in her chest ever since they boarded this train back in Twelve. The brunette didn’t really know what to think anymore. It was easy to take all the blame when she already blamed herself for so much that had happened, but to see the truth of the other Districts’ similar struggles and to actually do something about it, that was a lot harder considering the threats that hung above their heads like a cloud of doom.
Not once looking away from his piercing blue eyes that still retained that admirable kindness to them, she let his words wash over her, much like a soothing balm. What he told her made perfect sense —finally— and she couldn’t deny the anger that had lived within the hearts of too many oppressed people already. Peeta had her, leaving her with no other argument against his theories, and seeing as how she desperately wanted to believe his words, in favor of making it through this trip, she finally nodded. The victors visiting in their District had always been met with stony silence at best. “Yeah, you’re right.”
Her dark grey eyes were drawn down to where his thumb caressed her skin and she furrowed her brows, not wanting to allow herself comfort by such a touch, but unable not to feel some of the tension drain from her body. For days, he had been her rock, chasing the bad dreams away and speaking for her when she couldn’t get the words to pass her lips. Katniss was grateful for that, knowing no one could quite steady her as Peeta could. But even so, at the question, her mind strayed back to Gale and the many promises she had to break just to keep him safe. It was all so confusing.
Even so, there was only one certainty in her life and that was Peeta. They would have to resemble a front for years to come, and it couldn’t really hurt to meet him halfway now. She already owed him so much. Clearing her throat, Katniss finally forced a tiny barely there grin to her face as she told him, “A movie sounds good.”
They were in a never ending nightmare, and it was clear that they wouldn't be escaping the pressure of their roles any time soon. Through all of it, Peeta only became more and more sure that it was Katniss that held him together. It was the familiarity of her presence and her grey eyes that he knew so well that reminded him of what was important through it all. It was easy to get swept up in the guilt and stress of everything but, he was able to remain steady because, she was always by his side.
The tour had been a challenge of it's own- the tragedy of their visit to eleven having gotten t off to a dark start. But for the past few weeks, Peeta longed for their train and for the hours that they were free from Effie's schedules and the prying eyes of those around them. It was only then that he was able to drop his facade of grateful survivor and enjoy his few moments of relaxation. It helped that during these times he also had Katniss with him. It was strange how gradually his focus had shifted to the girl that inspired hope in such a hopeless population. Katniss was always worried about her family and her friends, putting everyone's safety and well-being before her own- it was clear to everyone. And it was because of that that he'd begun to put her before himself- knowing that he wouldn't be able to get through any of this without her.
"Well then let's see what we can find." Peeta said, smiling softly at her. He got up from their place on the couch, pulling her up with him gently. Luckily, since it was later in the day there was no chance of them running into Effie because she would be busy confirming the next day's events by now. His hand stayed in hers as they walked, as it often did and he couldn't help but notice the calming warmth that spread through him as she walked at his side.
They reached the viewing car of the train, and the door slid open revealing the lush couch and large screen inside. Peeta walked over to settle himself on the couch, picking up the control pad as he did so. Swiping through the menu, he found that there were only a few movies he'd never heard of before and then countless footage of past games. "I've never heard of any of these- how about you pick one." He said, chuckling as he handed her the control pad.

#can we just address a few things #peetas face when she hugs him #how effie says deserved instead of deserve #because shes already given up on both peeta and katniss #she doesnt think either of her victors will get out because no matter how strong they are #the other victors are stronger and more experienced #and if one wins #theyll be destroyed without the other #and then she goes and takes responsibility for it all #she cant work her way around it #shes murdered the closest things shes ever had to children

“Peeta ——- please stay.” Katniss looked after the boy who stood in her doorway, the dead of night shading him with the collection of shadows in her room.
He stood there motionless for a moment, lingering in the doorway that so often shut her away from everyone else. He answered without a second thought, "Yeah of course." He knew too well the terrors that the blanket of sleep brought with it.
Once he reached her bed, he moved beside her, arm going around her instinctively as he settled in.

"You're scaring me..."
Thoughts collided in his head as he tried separate the truth and the lies. It was close to impossible because, his altered state of mind just pushed him to believe that she was still playing him- trying to get him back on her side so that she could manipulate him further. It was only the dull nagging feeling in the back of his mind that kept him from wholeheartedly believing everything he thought he knew about her and everything that had happened. A small part of him told him to fight his urge to try to kill her while he could but, it just wasn’t big enough. “Then why are you here?” He asked coldly. Peeta’s usually tender features had grown cold with betrayal and hatred, as he took a challenging step towards her. “I know what you think of me? I know what everyone’s saying. That I was hijacked— that now I’m just some distorted version of the helpless baker’s son.” He told her, voice rising slightly as his disgust became more clear. “I think we both know why they think that. They don’t know the truth about you.” He spat at her as he eyes narrowed, gaze filled with loathing and distaste.
Everyone thought that he was the bad one, that he was wrong in his thoughts about Katniss but, he knew that he was right. He kept that nagging feeling in the back of his mind silent with great effort, so that there would be nothing to stop him from ending this. Nothing holding him back from being able to rid Panem of the mutt that is Katniss Everdeen.
"They said you wanted to see me," she countered, balling her fists on either side of her as she tried to keep herself in check. Obviously, they’d been lying if his angered stare was anything to go by. Katniss refused to take a step back though, despite the knotted ties in her stomach or her anxiety spiking at the tone he continued to use with her. How could he make her so weak?
Whenever she was around Peeta, she wanted to rush up to him, hold him and remember how it felt to be held by the only one who had always loved her more than life itself. It was a desire as big as reassuring herself that he was fine, healing from the torture undergone in the Capitol, but she couldn’t do any of it, because he wasn’t Peeta anymore. He was someone else entirely, a man who hated her more than anyone else, who saw in her everything that was wrong with the world.
It was like everything he had been was just beyond her reach, and she was left cold and empty whenever she failed to reach him —the real him. She wondered if she were to reach out to him and actually touch him without there being any violence between them, if she would be able to feel him there or would seize nothing but air.
Katniss shook her head in face of his rage, wanting to argue and tell him that he got everything wrong, to wake up and see everything they’d been, what he meant to her and what she meant to him, but she couldn’t so she jutted out her chin, forcing herself to stay strong and not wither like a flower at the tornado that rushed by her —the tornade that was Peeta.
However, her blood ran cold at the final statement, and she narrowed her eyes at him, refusing to show weakness when she already wanted to break at his words. Her defiant, stubborn nature that would undoubtedly make things worse, flared and her voice rose slightly as she asked, “And what truth is that? You seem to have it all figured out, Peeta. So what is it you think you know?”
In her heart, she already felt he might be right, even if she didn’t know what he was going to say yet. Maybe he was really seeing her now, and not the girl he built this whole fantasy around.
It didn't matter who it was, or where he was- it was the same everywhere. Everyone risked a nervous or judgmental glance at him. Ever since he was 'rescued' all he'd gotten was questions and accusations and people telling him how he's suppose to be. Everyone seemed to have heard about the bread boy who was tortured to his breaking point by The Capitol.
Everyone expected him to forget all he had learned while away. They all expected him to run back into Katniss' arms- forgetting all the awful things he'd learned about her. Just the sight of her angered him, he tried to avoid her most times but, somehow people always ended up pushing them back together.
Rolling his eyes, his arms crossed across his chest, "Well I was hoping I wasn't going to have to see you so soon but, I guess we can do this now. It's as good as a time as any." He said, hoping to get this over and done with. Despite all his corrupted memories and thoughts about her, as soon as he was actually around her his mind tended to get jumbled up.
It was almost painful to be around her- a prickling in the back of his mind always wanting to push past the wall that his distorted mind had created. His jaw clenched at her question, knowing that this was his chance to tell her all that he'd been wanting to. "You may have everyone else fooled but, I know the truth about you. I know what you really are. You're just some mutt that the Capitol created to use against all of us." His voice was cold, the distortion in his mind having a firm grasp on him as he spoke, "You lied to all of us- manipulated us for them!" Pulling on the restraints, his hands balled up into fists, "You're a mutt!" He shouted again.
He knew that Haymitch or someone would come in if he kept shouting so he lowered his voice, although it remained cold- his eyes reflecting the same iciness that his voice was giving off. "I don't want to be lied to anymore, Katniss- so stop trying to fix me. I don't want to go back to being how I was before."

haha yeah, at least. And they're always super long and painful or just perfect in other ways. Yeah, I think we have a bit of a problem- but that's okay, I'm fine with this addiction. Yes. <3
