You know, I am often asked “What’s A Great Yoga Video for a Beginner?” The thing is, I didn’t start my practice with “beginner” yoga. Not that I have anything against this learning method/style- to each their own. But I think there’s something really vital in the challenge of all levels yoga classes- you are actively pushed out of your comfort zone, left to dry on the sidewalk, and THAT’S where you start to learn. I remember finding lunges impossible (I always had to physically PICK UP my leg and move it to the front/back of the mat), downdog was a nightmare (WHY WON’T THIS FUCKING POSE END), and I honestly spent most of my first few classes cradling in child’s pose because asana practice genuinely kicked the shit out of me.
But I kept showing up- in spite of the fact that it was challenging, and that I was nearly always the fattest person in the room. And when I transitioned to home practice with online classes, my practice began to soar because I was free to get my ass kicked at home, with no one watching me.
I’m so happy to announce my EveryBody Yoga video series on @codyapp! Yoga helped me embrace my body so that I can be an active participant in my own life & I want you to know that you can do this, too!
This month-long series consists of 4 instructional videos and 4 workout videos. I’ve organized them in the order that I wish studios had programmed their classes when I initially started practicing yoga. Each instructional video will introduce you to the movements and a specific area of the body that we’ll focus on the next day in our workout class.
I am so proud of this series and am so grateful to share it with you! I can’t wait to hear what y'all think- click the link in my bio to learn more!
