Any of you going to the Duffer interview tomorrow? What do you all expect them to talk about the most?
I think they’ll definitely talk about the show and the choices they made, like killing El.
Also they’ll hint at a spin-off next year.
They’ll probably talk about the emotional climax that made them cry (us too, but in a different way 💀).
They’ll say a 9th episode is impossible (I mean, I agree 💯 it should be the whole season or 2).
They might announce a full Stranger Things theatrical release for the anniversary in July.
They might announce the date for The First Shadow on June 15 or May 15 (low chance).
They’ll probably say the loose ends will tie in the spin-off.
1. Did Eleven really die?
Ans: It’s up to interpretation, but she couldn’t talk to Mike in the Void.
2. Why is there no demo army in the Abyss?
Ans: We used the demo attack version in Sorcerer, so we didn’t want to repeat it (even though they repeated the storyline 3 times each )
3. Audience are asking for more seasons... Will you by chance to do more?
Ans: We have a spin-off planned, so right now I think we closed the main story well.
4. Why did the colour of the dial change?
Ans: Honestly, that was... that was... we wanted to communicate that it was a code red. We didn’t expect fans to take it as a new episode tease. (Whatever)
5. Why did nothing happen to Will when Vecna died?
Ans: We couldn’t show Will getting hurt, but at that point Will wasn’t afraid anymore and was in complete control, like Vecna. So Will could control the Hive Mind well. It’s a little complicated, but we’ll discuss more about it in the Henry spin-off.
6. People worry Mike got a bad ending. What’s your take on that?
Ans: In real life, people don’t always get happy endings. Matt and I didn’t either at that age, so I think that’s understandable.
7. What about continuity errors like Mike’s hair and several things throughout the season?
Ans: We shot that on another day, so you know, locations and timings can be tricky. We couldn’t measure Finn’s hair at the time. The measuring tape we usually use was missing... that was unfortunate 💀
8. What about Heroes playing in the end, when it usually hints at a fake ending in the show?
Ans: Ahh no, that was a misunderstanding. We were so confused about what to play at the end, then Joe suggested using that. We didn’t think about it that way. Anyway, that confusion is on our part.
9. Does Mike know Will’s painting was a love confession?
Ans: Actually, that’s questionable. I asked Finn, “Did you know that was a confession?” and he said Mike was oblivious. But at the same time, when we think about Mike, he does know how to put pieces together, so he might know. Mike might not want to ask Will and make him uncomfortable again because they’re best friends. That’s really up to Mike. We don’t want to talk about his decision.
10. Why does everyone sit in the epilogue like Henry?
Ans: Ahh, a lot of people had doubts about that, and people also didn’t like the graduation gown colours. We thought orange was a cool colour for the 80s vibe. And maybe the people at graduation were just sitting like that for uniformity. I was so tired that day, and the weather was really hot, so we were having milkshakes from Melwald’s at the time 😭
11. Why did the Wheeler family get a uniform haircut like Henry?
Ans: Hah, that was always my wish. From Season 1 to Season 5, we gave the Byers family a uniform bowl cut, so we thought the Wheelers should also start seeing a family stylist. After all, they lived together for 18 months, so maybe they felt jealous of the Byers family uniformity 💀
12. What was all the time travel stuff about?
Ans: Matt and I were always fans of time travel movies, so when we thought about making shows, we always imagined using cool themes from different classics. And we loved those cool t-shirts with that theme 😭 Time travel is tricky, but when we think about it... they are time travelers. They started 10 years ago, and now they all traveled through time and reached 1989. It’s deep. Time travels very fast.
13. So why was Vecna interested in clocks? Grandfather clocks and all that?
Ans: Well, that’s a good question. We always thought about that. Matt and I came up with different ideas, like... Henry might’ve liked keeping his pet spiders inside grandfather clocks . He might’ve had a weird habit of turning the clock hands too. By the way, we’ll explore that more in the spin-off, because we actually thought about asking Henry about it... but before that, our heroes sent him to hell 💀
