@skymar not only do I agree completely, I must add that Rose already had trusted Pearl with the secret for 1000 years! Besides being ooc It would make no SENSE for her to suddently feel she needs a physical restraint

I 100% believe she meant that as the last time she would ever give Pearl an order before they left those roles for good, but not a LITERAL physical restraint.

@skymar that is it exactly! I think the fact that Pearl was down to keep the secret is why Rose never realized she was physically incapable of it if she wanted to.

A big thing about Rose is that she doesn't realize how seriously she affects people and this is the only way imo that the order makes sense with her character.

Because at that point she'd been fighting a war for gem freedom for milennia. I can't imagine her giving the order TO keep Pearl bound to it physically, that seems very ooc by that point in time.

another take that annoys me is when people act like Pearl always wanted to tell Steven and everyone the whole Pink Diamond thing but could not because of the Diamond order.

Like no. She was on board with keeping the secret until Homeworld came back and only then did the order become the thing stopping her. Which Pearl quickly found a workaround because she is smart.

Obviously the order should never have happened anyway but Pearl wanted to leave that behind too and especially she wanted Steven to never have to learn about the Diamonds at all if not needed.

I don't know how well Pink understood the effects of that command when giving It, but I think It is obvious that Rose would have done something about It If Pearl had been physically fighting against it while she was alive.

It's unclear when exactly she decided that Steven needed to Know, but it was definitely after Rose's Scabbard. She was still proud of being The Secret Keeper at that point.

The fact that she can visibly struggle against the order means that she could have communicated to Rose that she wanted taken off and I believe that Rose would have done it. Pearl just didn't see a reason to do that.

But yeah! Pearl is intelligent, if she had wanted to say something sooner she would have found a way to do so. If she wanted to let Rose know that while she was alive, she would have.

People forget that the secret is Pearl's too. She was the one who suggested the 'secret identity' in the first place.

Since Steven talked to Garnet about it I feel like Connie could speak to Pearl since Pearl has been training Stevonnie - I think It could be interesting.

Like, I don't think Steven needs to be there as a saviour trying to solve everyone's problems or emotionally feeling like it's his job to fill Rose's shoes, that's not good. But his gem side is still...part of him?

He can't exactly pretend to be a normal human unless he literally ignores half of himself and half the people he has a connection to! And I think it would be much better to show that he can balance both of those sides better - that he can be both a crystal gem and also have a regular Steven life.

I saw someone say that they would not want Steven to show up in Lars of the Stars at all because his goal is living a normal human life and that would go against that.

IDK. I find that weird. Isn't Steven still half gem? His family is mostly Gems. He has gem friends. Is he not gonna keep in touch with them anymore because they are not 'human enough'? Wouldn't that make a LOT of the show pointless?

anyway, i think before the rebellion escalated ruby, sapphire and rose were seeing other gems. not in the kind of way humans would practice polyamory though. it was less thought through, and more casual. everyone had their preferences, and there was even a time where pearl herself despite her devotion to rose had a very brief thing with bismuth, for whom this was way more meaningful than it was for pearl, and if anything way less reciprocated

I can see the Crystal Gems experimenting like that

HC: Before faking Pink’s shattering, Rose would sneakily let Pearl do stuff she wasn’t supposed to like sitting on her throne or commanding (sabotaging) a loyalist ship. Pearl would be really nervous at first but they’d both end up giggling kicking their feet at their smaller acts of rebellion

This seems to me like something they would absolutely do. Especially after they bonded on Earth.

When Rose had to act like PD again in the meantime.

And that reformation is not a PURELY aesthetic thing but reflects something about the mindset of the gem. It is what "feels right" to them as the show states.

The change to Rose was as much a lie as cotton candy Garnet becoming more put together or Pearls outfit becoming less pearl-like.
