we cannot all die, for we are innumerable â we are humankind! therefore, we will win
Narmandakh aka "Manya", call sign "Albatross"
(or, POV you are a lorry driver and you are being expropriated in the middle of the pale by a gang of anarchocommunist pirates and their leader is inviting you to join their world historic negentropic mission)
@code31-onthedancefloor @yellow-yarrow yesss thank youu I will be writing something with her soon if I have the plasm
Lore dump under cut though!
Narmandakh was born in a Samaran region surrounded by pale where the fleeing communists first arrived to the isola after the defeat of the world revolution. The indigenous Yikut people initially embraced the refugees and aided them in establishing the SRV, but eventually many felt exploited by their colonizers, their communities very negatively affected by a) the amphetamine epidemic and b) the workers dying from a rifle butt to the back of the head epidemic (see: pjÔl Ch. 16). Constant unrest in the Yikut Autonomous Okrug leads to constant repression, and the region entroponetically destabilizes, finally falling into the pale entirely, its existence erased from memory and maps to conceal this embarrassment.
As a child, Manya was a refugee from the porch-collapsed region, but suffered as a ward of the state in the boarding schools, especially due to her refusal to treat her homeland as a non-entity. As a teenager, she came to terms with her transfemininity and decided to use it to become a non-entity herself, successfully transitioning and living under a female identity with altered documents,
She took up work in automotive factories, trying to get closer to pale-ready lorries and aerostatics, intending to steal one to escape the country. After her first escape attempt into the pale, her mind almost disintegrates, but as she resists being erased, she rediscovers a traditional Yikut technique of palerunning based on the migrations of birds between isolas.
She returns to the SRV with insurrectionary aims now that she is certain the pale can both be overcome as a threat to humanity, and be used to operate from without the interfering presence of the bureaucratic state, and while gathering up a small group of militant dissidents, she is approached by the famous entroponaut K. Saronovich Voronikin, whose secret sympathies for her movement give her the chance to ground her theories in science.
From this point on she has the means to start founding communes in the pale, showing increasingly impressive mastery over the pale, which earns her the nickname "Albatross" from her comrades, because of her ability to navigate the pale for long stretches of time without using conventional latitude compression.
âis the pale in elysium about climate chaosâ is up for debate but,
sea powerâs canvey island is clearly about that, because it references a historic flood which easily connects to the topic of rising sea levels, and is clear itâs about 21st century dread with the reference to H5N1, hence âbrace yourself for storms and summer droughtsâ
and sea power songs are so often woven into elysium even if I donât believe this one shows up anywhere in canon (but it mightâve eventually)

I was asked if I could make an artfight account, now it's true that I can't draw, but I will do my best to maybe do some attacks in some abstract style.
There is a new bio for my OC in it though! Some of the information in my original bio may change and this one has some more details on other aspects of her story.
gen zalpha ignus jokes aside, nilsen does give me the feeling of what it would be like a future where society is collapsing from climate chaos and remaining internet infrastructure doesn't have social media as we know it now, or even an archive of it, and being irony poisoned and clout obsessed and memebrained is an old people thing. the vastness of the internet may one day only exist in the memory of an aging generation. what's more ignus than being adrift in agonizing nostalgia for an immense social context that evaporated from reality
THANK YOU i was so happy someone noticed the film tape detail on my Ignus doodles, that was one of the details that stuck out to me about his description in the book. the idea of him being painstakingly censored from days of footage to become like a film defect
yessss I couldn't not be thinking about it, the big writing project I'm working on has been focusing very much on that film strip element to Ignus's spectre. it's a characteristic of his extra-physical nature that (while I'm not trying to apply hard magic rules to it) makes him more specific than any old ghost, and I really like that
