I just scored a big win for one of my important clients and now I'm too hype to sleep.

I made a typo in an email accidentally saying that a visa will expire in 3037 instead of 2027 and the client very seriously corrected me on it and I'm still mad about it. Like obviously I know your visa is not expiring in a one-thousand-and-one years! YEESH.

A lot of people I talk to keep trying to get me to adopt AI to save time in my work. I've looked into it and spoken extensively with my partner, and even setting aside my personal concerns, AI really just won't meaningfully save me time.

But you know what would save me time? If everyone else would stop using AI in their work. That way, I would not have to fix every document sent to me that was obviously, painfully drafted by AI to make it sound like a human person wrote it. I wouldn't have to respond to people who "did research" on chatgpt before they got on the call with me, forcing me to explain in greater detail, why they are wrong. I wouldn't have to respond to emails with a list of 20 questions written by AI instead of a person who actually thought about what they wanted to ask me.

My job is legitimately harder right now.

Fantastic article!! The guys looking for it were fish researchers who saw it one time, knew instantly it was an undescribed species, and then tried for nearly 20 years to find and document it!

It's a type of ghost pipefish, related to seahorses, and it floats around coral reefs looking like a piece of algae and hunting unsuspecting prey

They are, of course, named after Snuffleufagus from Sesame Street!

Later on it the project, they got citizen science involved, and people across the Pacific started reporting sightings of snuffy fish from all over!

Hooray for science and hooray for S. snuffleufagus !

Just FYI, the U.S. government is trying to break the immigration system and end legal immigration:

The administration has issued a directive requiring most temporary visa holders living in the U.S. to return to their home country to finish

This is a HUGE policy change and reinterpretation of Congressional statute. I believe it will be determined to be illegal, but countless people who have been pursuing legal immigration within the system will be hurt by this policy if they execute as written.
