The fun thing is that no matter what elaborate justification they come up with for your speed at it being measured in units of distance, "finished the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs" is still a hole in Star Wars lore-- the distance of a parsec is defined by the length of Earth's orbit.

(Which like, you could obviously fanwank it as their parsec being based on the orbit of Coruscant or something-- but anything defined in distinctly Earthly terms, without at least a further adjective, is one of the Forbidden Topics that will get your draft sent back by the Lucasarts lorekeepers for a rewrite... TO BE SO HONEST THERE IS NOT ENOUGH DIY STUFF IN THE OSHIKATSU SPACE

Ok there is a LOT of awesome stuff people make but there’s SO MUCH MISSED POTENTIAL RIGHT???

I also just went to a punk festival so I’m in a big diy mood anyway, but I think we can be making SO much stuff, and I don’t see enough ppl making things!! And that’s not to say NOBODY is making stuff, but there could be so much more!

I see a lot of people say “Oshikatsu is too expensive to get into!!” But it doesn’t have to be…. You do NOT need official merch, there is SO much potential to make merch

Honestly some pencils markers cardboard hot glue and paper and a dream can get you SO FAR! I didn’t spend more than 40 bucks on my current ita bag because I just made so much of it. And the things I did buy was all fan merch, so I supported my fellow fans!!

Investing in something like a good button maker will CHANGE YOUR LIFEEEEE especially when in a lot of cases especially for peices of media from other places where you would need to import stuff, MAKING merch will open every door in existence

Also if you’re a fan of something where the company/people that make it suck, buying fan merch is a great option!! Support your fellow fans and get some awesome merch!

Also if you have a dead fandom with little to no fandom or official merch, making stuff is a great option!

Making your own nuis is super easy, shrinky-dink paper is pretty cheap, cut out drawing are super fun to put in ita bags, the possibilities are endless!!

I am in NO way shaming ppl for buying merch, not at all. But I’m just saying, Oshikatsu and nerd stuff doesn’t HAVE to be expensive!

Not to mention how nice it would be to cut back on consuming mass produced products and making them instead. Because honestly there’s so much stuff that people really can just make instead of buying. And if official merch is too expensive or hard to get your hands on, it might be easier just to make stuff.

Nerdy/geeky stuff in general has a lot of potential for diy merch, but I don’t see enough of it!! I’ve been making nuis out of felt, making keychains and (sort of) acrylic stands out of shrinky-dinks, embroidering logos into clothes, things like that.

(Also selfshippers like me, make your own merch of you and your f/o….)
