PAYMENT: For art, I tend to take payment halfway through or close to finished. For fanfiction, I take payment when the work is finished, based on its final word count.

I haven’t really made art of just Gray Fox. I usually always pair him with Snake, but I decided to do something solo/focused on him. The hands belong to various MGS characters who have ties to Gray Fox in one way or another. The characters are either directly involved in his life, or heavily associated with him in other ways.

I’ll list them from left to right in four rows here:

Psycho Mantis, Revolver Ocelot

Gene, Big Boss, Gustava Heffner

Solid Snake, Naomi Hunter

Olga Gurlukovich, Dr. Clark

This piece is basically inspired by how Gray Fox was used his whole life by many people in many ways. From being a child soldier, to getting brainwashed, experimented on, and much more, Fox has lived a life that was never really his own, but manipulated by many forces. Not all of these hands are malicious, however, as Snake and Naomi are the only ones who hold him tenderly. Olga and Gustava’s hands also bear no ill intent. Meanwhile, Gene and Big Boss grip him tightly, while Mantis, Ocelot, and Dr. Clark have bad intentions. I also experimented with the background as I’m usually pretty lazy with them lol.

Fox popping some prescribed meds next to Snake, noticing the rookie watching, and bluntly stating:

“I need my weekly dose or I start cannibalizing.”

Snake has no idea if he’s joking or not.

Vulcan Raven saying, “You and the Boss… you are from another world… a world I do not wish to know...” is so funny in hindsight because he was literally like:

“You were an IVF baby? Weird. Unnatural. Scary.”

It’s like when someone jokes about how C section babies aren’t actually “born” but removed like tumors.

FINALLY FINISHED MY SECOND SNOX COMIC‼️

After a whole year’s worth of procrastination, I FINALLY finished Pain! I’m so happy with how all the panels came out, as well as the composition of the video. It was all very much a labor of love, but I’m definitely gonna make full drawings for a little bit now before starting another comic.

The idea behind this comic was based on the 6 year gap between MG2 and MGS1. While my other comic “Don’t Speak” was from Snake’s perspective, I wanted to explore things from Fox’s perspective this time around. I can easily see him stalking Snake, among other things, before their confrontation in Shadow Moses. The red color palette of the comic was inspired by Fox’s vision through his exoskeleton’s mask, as most of this comic is pretty much from his POV. I used a video form because one, I made the panels too big to fit together on the pages the way I wanted, and 2, I thought it would be cool to do something like this at least once compared to how I usually compose and post my art!

Something I love about everyone’s MGS Miis in the new Tomodachi Life is that Ocelot is consistently ugly no matter who makes him or what era of Ocelot it is

Sunny’s stutter was concerning to Hal. Was it due to what the Patriots did to her? Perhaps trauma? He even worried it indicated some kind of internal injury.

So he tries to do activities with her to help fix it. Flashcards, games, anything he can think of or find online. None of it really works though, and he and Sunny end up very frustrated afterwards. Sunny more so than Hal.

Dave watches for a bit. He doesn’t really know what to say about it, he doesn’t wanna hurt either of their feelings. So he just stays quiet.

One night though, Hal seems particularly upset about it. He already knows he isn’t a perfect parent, but now he sees himself as a complete failure of a caretaker.

Dave finally says something.

“Not everything is a computer bug.”

Hal sits up in one fluid motion, his face a mix of emotions.

Okay maybe that came out wrong…

Dave takes a deep breath, tries to rephrase. What he means is that… sometimes you have to let things be. Not everything can be fixed, sometimes it doesn’t even need to be fixed. Maybe if you give it time, give it space, let things develop, it’ll sort itself out.

Hal understands, he just wants the best for Sunny. Dave knows that. They both want what’s best for her.

Hal selfishly admits that he worries Sunny will have the stutter for the rest of her life. And while that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, he worries there could’ve been something he could’ve done to help.

Dave says he shouldn’t worry about it. Hal asks how he’s so sure.

There’s a bit of a long, awkward silence. Dave just kinda stares off as if he’s said too much. He soon realizes there’s no way out of it now though, so he just takes a deep breath before speaking very bluntly.

“I used to have a stutter.”

Hal is astonished, immediately he jumps into a hundred questions but soon realizes that’s pretty rude. So he eases off, and settles for just one question.

Dave tells him it was when he was very, very young. Back when he was in the foster system. It’s memories he absolutely hates to remember, but he puts up with it to satisfy Hal’s curiosity and assure him.

So there. He turned out fine. It went away with time and patience. So Sunny will be fine.

Hal repeats that last sentiment internally to himself, as if trying to manifest it.

Sunny will be fine.

I have many thoughts regarding my Fox Lives/Otasnox Philanthropy AU, but the biggest one is that Fox actually has experience raising a child. So when Sunny comes along, he knows far more than Snake or Otacon.

Sunny reminds Fox too much of Naomi when he first sees her. Small, defenseless, and in need of a home. He feels the same sense of duty he felt all those years ago, but this time it’s not to atone or ridden with guilt.

Now Fox isn’t perfect, but he’s pretty damn efficient. He managed to keep Naomi alive, entertained, and happy. And that was under very strenuous circumstances, so to do it in a calm and stable environment is actually very refreshing!

Fox is pretty much the only one with hands on experience. Otacon reads manuals/forums, looks back on fond memories with Emma as an example. Snake meanwhile goes more on instinct, the foster system showed him what a good parent shouldn’t be.

None of them are perfect, but when they all work together, they do a pretty decent job. Sunny grows up happy and healthy thanks to her three “uncles”.
