It’s around that time of year when kids start getting letters of being waitlisted, rejection and deferment. Just wanted to say hang in there– not everyone’s collegiate path is a strict linear progression. Taking gap years, transferring, going to your ‘B’or ‘C’ school, etc– they’re all completely valid ways to self-discovery and getting to where you want to be. From my own experience, things have a way of working out in the weirdest ways. Just keep your head up & mind open and don’t give up.

When I first started college, I got into one of my dream schools U.Va. after being rejected from some Ivy Leagues. I ended up having to drop out of U.Va. in the first semester because I couldn’t afford to live, even with financial aid. I worked for the semester to save up to afford to be at my state school in Florida, where I barely had enough money to live. I finally graduated, and now I’m in graduate school at Yale and getting paid to do it. Never give up or get discouraged from following your ambitions. :)
