Seeing as she was close, and she had some time to kill, Arwen found herself walking into Hornby’s to visit her friend that she probably hasn’t seen in far too long. “Hey, Panda.” She greeted with a warm smile. “I don’t really need help with anything other than some girly time. But if you’re too busy I can come back?” Looking around the shop, though, they didn’t seem quiet. But Arwen didn’t want to be getting in the way.

Pandora gasped, a huge smile on their face as they saw their best friend walk in. “Wenny!” they cheered, practically running around the counter to pull her into a hug. They didn’t let go as she said “I’m never too busy for you! Besides the store’s been dead for hours, please! Stay! Girly time it is!”

Shiny. Now that was a name he never really thought Pandora would give her own wand. She always came up with the most beautiful names. Not that Shiny isn’t pretty. But it was pretty ordinary compared to the name she gave his wand. “It is shiny. I see why you named him that”

“It’s funny, I tried changing his name to Adalbert when I was thirteen, but he got so angry that he wouldn’t perform any spells until I promised never to try again,” she giggled, then felt a a bit of some slightly spiteful joy from her wand; he was laughing at her. “Hey, don’t be mean,” she scolded before putting him away.

“i’m still a little confused– were you talking to your wand?” perhaps he should wait until he visited london and let olivander himself look at his wand, he didn’t want to run the risk of having to have a daily conversation with it once leaving it in this witches hands.

It was so natural to Pandora that she often forgot that it was an oddity to most people. “Oh, yes, I was,” she explained with a giggle. “Yeah, wands sort of... talk to me? In a way? And Shiny is my best friend, so we have conversations whenever I have time. And, since it’s a slow day, we usually talk for hours.”

“Well I don’t have much to do today. So I can stay here with you” he said and nodded as he looked at Pandora and then down at Shiny. “So what is the name of your wand? Or have you already told me? I am the worst at remember things like that” he sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. 

She picked him up as if presenting a baby. “His name is Shiny,” she explained, not offended at all. “Honestly, not the best name, but I was eleven and I thought I needed to name him quickly so I just gave him the first I could think of. Though he is still very shiny, so I think it fits him.” She felt a surge of pride coming from her hands and giggled. “And as long as he still likes it, I’ll keep calling him that.”

“Of course you are my friend. But I don’t see you all that often which is a shame. I have just been so busy with school work” he sighed, running a hand through his hair as he shrugged. “But I can hang out here as well for an hour or so? It must get a little boring being in the store for hours all alone, right?”

“Yeah, Hogwarts is too far away,” she pouted before nodding furiously. “Oh my gosh, please! It’s just been me and Shiny for like three hours already and we don’t close for another hour.” She brought her wand out of her pocket and placed him on the counter. “I mean I’ll have to ignore you for a bit whenever anyone comes in, but yes, I’d love to catch up!”

Looking at her, he smiled. “No. I just think that I need some company. I love my friends, I really do. But sometimes you just need to spend time with other people. Fresh faces and all that jazz” he shrugged. 

She let the professional facade dissipate completely and she went into friend mode. She wanted nothing more than to go with him to the Three Broomsticks and buy this guy a butterbeer, but she was in charge. “Well, I don’t know if my face counts as fresh, but I hope I’m your friend,” she said with a hopeful shrug. “But I can’t leave the store, so if you’re okay hanging out here?”

“No need to thank me for telling you the truth” he said and shook his head as he looked at her. His gaze then moved to his wand and he smiled a little. “Maybe I will try and talk to her when I get home” he shrugged. 

“Great!” she said,bringing her hands together in excitement. She then cleared her throat, trying to keep professional; she was “in charge” of the store after all. “Is there anything else you need that I can help with?”

“I have always admired the way you carry yourself. You are just.. unapologetically yourself and I could never find that confidence” he said and shook his head as he looked at her, smiling a little. “I have never really thought about talking to your wand. Treat it like an old friend. Never been something for me”

She beamed. That was one of the nicest things anyone had ever said to her. “That’s so sweet, Remus, thank you,” she said before pointed to Gradia. “And no one is going to understand you better than she is. I can promise you that. Plus, she won’t judge.”

the look over the mans face was not one that was pleasant, however it seemed to morph into a charming smile with light kind eyes– even though what laid behind them were anything but. “sorry– am I interrupting– something?” he asked, feeling as though he may have just stepped in the middle of something between her and– a ghost? he wasn’t quite sure.

Pandora was never one to judge someone based off of a first impression, but this guy was making her feel a little... off. Still, she tried to keep her smile genuine. “Oh, no, we can talk later,” she shrugged, placing Shiny back into her pocket. “How can I help you today?”

Feeling a soft smile form on his lips as he looked at Pandora, his eyes then moved down to the wand resting in his pocket. “I.. never really thought about talking to my wand before” he admitted and then chuckled. “Where do you get all those ideas from? Like.. do you have a big mega mind?”

She tilted her head in confusion. “Mega mind? I think my mind is normal sized, but I wouldn’t really know.” She then giggled before shrugging. “I don’t know, it’s just... kind of who I am? I mean, when I got Shiny when I was eleven I just felt like they were sort of talking to me. I didn’t really get any ideas.”

“Oh, he left you in charge? wonderful.” Theseus smirked, leaning on the counter. “I need some new wand polish, can you help?”

“Oh yeah! Definitely! That’s an easy one!” she beamed, turning around, taking a few options off the shelf from behind her and placing them in front of him. “Scented or unscented? I have to be honest, usually the wands don’t like the scented ones, but Shiny likes the orange one alright.” She then shrugged. “But maybe yours likes a different scent. They are all different, after all.”

At this point in their friendship, he was rather used to her words and the way she said them. She cared, that warmed his heart. And the fact that she cared about wands as much as she did, it was wholesome and it didn’t harm anyone so why be weird about it? “It’s not something I wanna talk about” he shook his head. “Rather private business”

“Oh, right, got it, no problem,” she said, nodding too much. She knew she had that problem, prying into people’s lives, but she really only asked because she cared. “Maybe you should talk to Gradia about it though when you’re home? She’s worried too, plus she can’t tell anyone. Not even me.” She giggled slightly at her little joke, a genuine smile on her face.

Pandora’s eyes lit up as she saw who walked in. She hadn’t seen him since their last day at Hogwarts, but he looked just as cute as he did back then. “Oh, definitely! Mr. Hornby left me in charge, you can count on me! What do you need?” she asked, clearly eager to help.

Remus wasn’t one to judge people about their personalities. At least the girl before him was special, that was a good thing. Standing out in this day and age was not an easy task but she did it so effortlessly. She was herself and for that he couldn’t give her credit enough. “Well Gradia.. is okay. Haven’t really used her all that much, you see”

She gasped again, though much more concerned and wide eyed than the previous one. “Oh no! Is that why you you seem really sad? Oh wait... nope. You’re tired. Did you not sleep well last night?” She turned her gaze to his wand pocket when she sensed something from it. “Gradia’s concerned too, oh no, Remus, what’s wrong?”

“I am not all that sure if I am gonna be honest with you” he said as he rubbed the back of his neck, trying to think of something. But his mind was blank. He didn’t get much sleep last night, it was one of those nights when the dreams kept you awake. He had tried over and over again to just relax, close his eyes and finally find that sweet place far far away from the troubles he was facing everyday. But he didn’t succeed. 

Pandora gasped as she recognized the fellow Gryffindor. “Remus! Hi!” she greeted, hating having the counter between them so she couldn’t hug him. “How are you? It’s been so long! Is Gradia doing okay?” Remus had been nice enough to let Pandora name his wand when she discovered he hadn’t named her yet. Gradia had a lovely presence about her, which drew Pandora to her, and in turn, bringing her to befriending Remus.
