We, As a Community, Need to Change
Look. Nothing in this k-sims entertainment community is “okay.” We all know it.
I feel a bit weird to be here calling it out like it is, seeing as I’m the child of this whole community, but it has to be done. Honestly, I think someone new such as myself or the other new companies have the best views on this because we haven’t had feuds with the other companies for all our lives.
I came into this community a few months ago because I liked k-pop and I liked the sims. I think we all did, actually. What we didn’t realize was that we were signing up for a world of drama. And that’s the issue.
I’m not going to be biased and say it was just a couple of people. That makes those people made and nothing gets solved. That’s not okay.
When I first came here, I didn’t realize that people would ruin their friendships over something as simple as having a k-sims group based off of the same real k-pop group. That’s why I chose to make my groups artist-fluid. Even still, I have to be careful with what I do because I never know if someone will “reserve” that artist for themselves. So that’s the first change I’m going to suggest: why do we need to reserve artists for ourselves? Why do you all feel the need to be the only one allowed to promote someone like 2ne1 or Twice or Girls’ Generation (I’m just randomly naming, not trying to call out. Please understand that this is not a call out post but rather a call to action for the WHOLE community)? So what, they want to do Monsta X and you want to do it too. What’s the issue? Do you feel like you have to be better than them? You shouldn’t. We’re all k-pop fans, we’re not competing in the Hunger Games. Calm down, it’ll be fine.
The next thing I’m going to be bringing up is copying. Now, a few people have been targeted in particular, but just bringing them up would be useless in my argument here. So here’s my next point: ask for permission before you do something that somebody else has done that’s even remotely similar. It seems odd that I had to add the “remotely” to the similar, but people are getting mad about the smallest things, and to change that, we as a community need to try to be more open and openly communicate with each other. This can go hand in hand with the whole “same groups” deal. Ask for permission before doing the same group as someone else. That way, if they still can’t get out of their heads that they need to be the only one with that group, you know.
Now the third thing. I can’t wait. Stop gossiping about each other! The best thing you can do in a place like this is admit you’re in the wrong, so I will admit: I’ve gossiped about people in this community, and that wasn’t okay. And I know everyone in this community has at least thought about it. Stop acting like angels, no one is perfect. But maybe, just maybe, if you all could actually buck the heck up and stop being petty (I’m talking to everyone, if you do so much as dare to turn my argument to everyone in your favor, you need to realize that you’re just furthering the issue) then maybe there wouldn’t be so much negativity in this community.
Last but not least, I need you all to realize what you’re doing to everyone. People have left and are planning on leaving this community because we all can’t be on the same page and communicate. People can’t do what they love because you decree that they can’t. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU TO DO THAT TO SOMEONE? It’s sickening.
I’ve been in this community for 3 months. My 3 month-versary was the 5th. But I already want to leave because we all can’t handle ourselves. That’s right, I didn’t use “you all.” I used “we all.” I’m in the wrong too. We’re all in the wrong.
Honestly, I don’t expect this post to change much. This is just a call to action for those who want to stop pretending it’s okay and to try and fix this community. This is all over a game. Stop acting high and mighty over a game. Everyone.
I need you all to understand I don’t want to start a whole civil war. I think everyone here has a little bit of good in them and that we can all foster it if we try. Thank you.
