Curses
Curses are the source of all corruption within the far reaches of the torn archipellago. Jewelery, trinkets, clothing, any piece of them could be burdened with a curse, inturn corrupting any shape that makes the mistake of wearing or merely carrying them. A Cursed object can never be separated from the shape that posses them. Even if split apart, both of them will do and try everything to find back together, sensing each others presence from anywhere and everywhere.
The severity of curses can vary highly. Some curses are enough to mutate and transform their bearer, bestowing incredible powers upon them. Others may grant more subtle abilities or even no benefit at all. Though they all come with a heavy price..
I am aware that there currently aren't a lot of details about this AU, hell, I haven't even introduced the whole main cast yet, anyone is welcome to shoot me an ask for the characters, or just the AU in general. Would help me get more art out, and do more world building. Plus, it's fun!

Bird. They funky
Once the most prevalent and common species of and beyond paradise, now likely extinct after the first rise of the storm. Countless cacti fell to the corruption, mutating into aquatic monsters that now dwell in the depths of new oceans, patiently awaiting the return of the eye of the storm.
Those few who didn't corrupt, starved or drowned after the storm had ripped the world into an endless archipellago, dooming those who were alone or without sustainable land.
The oldest guardian of the archipellago.
The only guardian of the tree who managed to live for decades, aging much slower to the trees influence. With the passage of time, she is the only remaining original protector of the tree, though thankfully not all alone thanks to the presence of the heros.
Though determined and smart, a frail old body makes easy picking for the corruption of the eye of the storm.
