I have had exactly one butterbeer.” Pandora said, raising her own eyebrows in return. “You must have heard someone else and thought it was me but I definitely didn’t volunteer to pay for everyone’s drinks today.”

Felicity couldn’t do anything but laugh at Pandora, and nodded, as she might indeed have a point. Walking along the corridor, Felicity listened, agreeing wholeheartedly. “I’m pretty damn sure that what you just did helped a lot.” the blond smiled. As Pandora admitted to her lack of control of the schedule, Felicity giggled. “And you complain about me?” she joked. “I really hope so. I mean, he’s always Slughornish, of course, but I really, really hope he’s in a good mood.” 

“I hope so, and it’s so nice of you to agree with me.” She laughed again, flashing a bright smile at Felicity. Pandora had always been a little distracted about school things - since there were so many people around for her to depend on to remind her of her class schedule and things, she didn’t need to focus. “I wouldn’t say complain precisely . . .” She winked to show she didn’t mean it, reaching up to run fingers through her hair and tug out some of the tangles. “He can be quite Slughornish, can’t he? Maybe it’ll be all right today though. I can’t think of anything that should put him in a bad mood.”

“Each to their own, I suppose. Pumpkin is a bit of an acquired taste - only really like it ‘cause when I was a kid, my grandma would make me it every weekend. Vodka’s tricky, though,” she watched her with warm eyes, ebullient nature worn on her sleeves. “Unstoppable, eh? Wouldn’t be surprised if one day you were strong enough to defeat all of us, singlehandedly.”

“Oh, what a nice memory. My mum bakes and she does a lot of pumpkin things in the fall, but I never liked the taste, even as a kid.” It was a fond memory for her, despite her distinct lack of of interest in pumpkin flavor. “That’s the goal. Unstoppable witch Pandora Moonwell, ready to take on the world! Or Hogwarts castle, anyway. Luckily I plan to be benevolent with everyone.”

She laughed as she studied her hand, thoroughly coated in glitter. “I always wanted to be a hero. This qualifies, right? If they’re going to write ballads about me, I think I can say I’m a hero.”

“But isn’t it glorious? I love all the pink.” With an artistic vein of her own, Pandora was quite in awe of the tea shop - and genuinely in awe, as opposed to many of her fellow students. “Touch the glitter?” She eyed it speculatively then impulsively reached out and placed her hand firmly over the glittery area. “I might regret this later but it seemed like the right choice now.”

     “erm, what …?” abi muttered to herself as she took the box of heart shaped chocolates from the hands of a wide eyed second year, and began examining the packet for a label ( aka proof ). “i’m sorry but i think these were sent to me in mistake… hey, wait, where’d she go?” she looked around quickly, hoping to spot the girl again but the result was unsuccessful, so abi looked back down at the treats completely at loss of what to do next.                                     “ … what the heck do i do with these now …?”

“I think you eat them, right? It’s chocolate, isn’t it?” Pandora stepped closer, shifting her bag to her other hand. “Unless you don’t like chocolate, or you’re allergic to it, I suppose. Who is it from?”

“You can fake anything if you try hard enough,” Gideon says with a grin before shrugging a shoulder, “Do you think you can knock Lucius Malfoy’s hard enough to break it? That’d be a great day.”

“I guess that’s true.” Her eyes widened briefly before she started giggling, glancing around the corridor to make sure no one had overheard them. “I think I probably could if I set my mind to it, but I’m not going to. The last thing I need is to irritate Lucius Malfoy. I’m enjoying this year by going unnoticed, thank you very much.”

The blond laughed, agreeing with the other. She should of learned that, “Well, you can’t teach an old dog to bark.” it was defiantly beside the point that Felicity was no dog, nor old. She noticed the way Pandora’s smile slipped, and the blond gave a light sigh. “Yeah, it is a stressful year. It’s a year those kids doesn’t need. Which, makes it only even more important to make sure they feel safe. Everyone should feel safe here.” Felicity had seen first years, from each and every house cry because of what happened around them. And it was understandable. “I’m going to Potions. And it’s okay to be selfish.” she winked at Pandora. 

“I don’t know if I agree with that statement. Even old dogs can learn new things, right? But I understand the sentiment.” Her smile slipped a bit as she thought of all the stress the first years had to face - including the Slytherins, who had all the prejudice against them on top of everything else. “I agree. I always felt safe at Hogwarts and I hate that not all the little ones do now. But hopefully we can help a little bit.” She reached into her bag to find her schedule, wrinkling her nose. “Is it potions now? I’d forgotten. Do you think Slughorn is in a good mood today?”

Dorcas smiled, nodding in the slightest. There was a glint in her eyes as she downed her own flask, watching Pandora laugh. “Do you not? It’s become sort of a niche for me. I’m not me if I don’t have my flask on me. Milk is good, good for your bones.”

“No, I don’t. The tastes just never appealed, I guess. Pumpkin, anyway, but I didn’t try vodka until pretty recently.” She took a drink of her milk and nodded enthusiastically. “That’s the goal, to get very strong bones and be unstoppable.”

“I’m not sure,” xe admitted, an easy smile spreading across xir face as Pandora grabbed xir hand. Xe knew better than to read into it, but there was something comforting about the innocent, familiar touch. “I don’t know her well personally, but the other paintings say she can hold a grudge. I pity the Gryffindors.” Xe chuckled at her question, and nodded. “I think he’s dating one. I don’t know why he wouldn’t let you help with them. You’ve always been great with the creatures in that class.”

Xe beamed at her laugh, feeling a surge of pride that she was laughing at something xe’d said. “So you have to be close if you’re near them! That doesn’t mean they can’t be cute. Their faces are kind of hilariously adorable if you don’t pay attention to the huge explosive horn right above it.”

“Well I’m glad we don’t have to worry about passwords or paintings to get into our common room,” Pandora said with a soft laugh as her free hand gestured. “I mean, there is the vinegar which isn’t good, but that hardly happens to me anymore.” It would have been irritating to deal with any of that, she thought, although maybe a painting wouldn’t have been that bad. “Dating a mooncalf - I mean, I guess there are worse creatures to date, right? I’ll have to ask him though.” She glanced up at Xeno again, grinning. “Do you think so? I love working with them, when I can.” It brought her a lot of joy, although she wasn’t entirely sure if she was great like Xeno said - xe was a little biased in her favor.

She laughed again and pushed her hair behind her shoulder, picturing an erumpet. “I guess you could maybe call it cute? But the explosive horn still really puts me off it.” But she wasn’t surprised to hear Xeno say that - and it wouldn’t have felt right to hear xem say otherwise. “As long as you’re careful around any erumpets that you run into, we’ll be safe. It wouldn’t do to have you get hurt by mistake.”

“As amusing as that would be, I don’t think I should encourage you to hex anyone. But I do know an empty corridor up the hall, if you want to duck down there for a minute. How many of them have you had?”

“oh, but wouldn’t a ball be a lot of fun? I love an excuse to get dressed up,” Pandora said, waving an arm expansively. “Oh, and the decorations! I bet they’d be spectacular.”

“You seem to do all right for yourself despite that,” Pandora said with a laugh. “As long as you’re sure. I’ll have to remember to be aware of my surroundings from now on. I’d hate to break someone else’s self-confidence.”
