“FINE! Fine. I hate you. Just know I hate you, Lils.” She quickly jabs her finger into the glittery display and the sparkles all but embed themselves into her dark skin. “I am never going to get this all out…”
“Think of it as a badge of honor. A symbol of your bravery. When they see you on the pitch next weekend you’ll have them flying in the other direction.”

She laughed as she studied her hand, thoroughly coated in glitter. “I always wanted to be a hero. This qualifies, right? If they’re going to write ballads about me, I think I can say I’m a hero.”
“Definitely a hero. Only I don’t exactly know who you’re saving... An inspiration to the less sparkly among us, at least.”

“Pink…in it’s self is a very dangerous color.” Benjy started slowly while nodding his head. “And that whole place is pink so..it’s got that… large… ‘BEWARE’ thing going on there. I don’t know how some girls like it there…..it’s far beyond my comprehension.”
“Pink’s not so bad. It’s mostly just a threat to masculinity and we all know how fragile that is, yeah? It’s just a bit much in there. Overwrought and all. Not really genuine.”

“Evans, I’ve tried so hard to avoid herpes. So why would I go near it in its most abrasive form? … Fuck, but I can’t turn down dares…”
“Ay, Gwen, I believe in you, you’ll survive this. I’d never wield the power of a dare if I didn’t think you could handle it. In Gryffindor Tower we learn that responsibility early... I mean, sometimes we ignore it, but we’re definitely aware...”

“do you take me for a madman?” james asked pointedly, hands in his pockets as they approached the shop. “i’ll be covered in glitter for weeks.”
“Well, I didn’t take you for a chicken, did I, and you’re acting one of those - actually, wait, if you’re covered in glitter I won’t be able to touch you.” Lily paused, tapping a finger to her chin in exaggerated thought. “Oh, well. I think you’ve got to do it. Your honor’s been tarnished now.”

“I believe them getting pinker and pinker is thoroughly possible… but I am also very scared of that place…. I haven’t set foot in there since fourth year, to be honest.”
“I think I was last in there in Second - maybe third? God, I’m old, anyway it was some terrible date and I don’t blame you for being afraid. I think it might be jinxed in there. Some very pink jinx.”

“But isn’t it glorious? I love all the pink.” With an artistic vein of her own, Pandora was quite in awe of the tea shop - and genuinely in awe, as opposed to many of her fellow students. “Touch the glitter?” She eyed it speculatively then impulsively reached out and placed her hand firmly over the glittery area. “I might regret this later but it seemed like the right choice now.”
“Christ, you’re braver than me. Let that fortify you for what’s to come. They’ll be writing ballads about you next, something like, ‘she who touched the cardboard cupid’s arse...’”
“Every year I tell myself there’s no way Puddifoots can make the storefront any pinker, and yet we learn: never underestimate masters of their craft. Point being, dare you to touch the glitter.”
“Whoever put all this pink shit around here should reconsider their career choice. It’s horrid.” Alecto scrunched up her nose as she looked around at all the Valentines Day themed decorations in Hogsmeade. It was absolutely sickening. “And wasn’t Valentines Day over days ago?”
“Sure, but we don’t get a chance to celebrate until the weekend. It’s not like it’s hurting anyone.”
“Gotta love those post-Christmas sales,” said Peter to himself, carrying a box filled with things from Zonko’s and Honeydukes, as well as some supplies for a new banner for the oncoming Quidditch match.
“It’s the only time to get a good deal on on some novelty socks, I swear,” Lily said seriously. “Need a hand carrying all that?”
“It’s Valentine’s next week, isn’t it?” Dorcas questioned, a gentle smile on her lips as she cast her mind back to last Valentine’s day.
“Somebody sounds excited.”

“How does our school compare to your old education?” Remus asked with a laugh. “Or educations? I assume being around since the advent of magic means you’ve learned about many magical advancements as they’ve happened.”
“See, now that’s a difficult question, mate, what constitutes education? If it’s any time I’ve learned something - including one-offs when a new spell gets invented - then this is just a continuation of everything else, yeah? So I’d say, I dunno, the food has improved. I’m glad we don’t use peppermint in boil cures anymore.”

james walked a bit closer to em, leaning a bit, one hand behind his back and the other holding the box of cake in front of him. “my only trouble with that proposition is that liliane might get the wrong idea. i don’t make cakes for just anyone, you know.”
“No?” Lily asked, blinking up at him. “And who, exactly, do you make cakes for? Aside from the devil, of course. Liliane is a fine young lady.”

“bollocks. that’s just too bad, innit? cause i happen to have a devil’s food cake that MAY OR MAY NOT have “ lily evans ” across the top in whipped cream. haven’t seen anyone else with the name, have you?”
“James Potter, are you comparing me to the devil?” Lily asked, but eir resolve was wavering. What was one to do when one’s mates kept coming out the woodwork bearing sweets? At some point today ey probably ought to consume a vegetable. “It’s Liliane Chastain’s birthday - perhaps if you smudged it?”

“oh, no, of course not,” james shook his head, as if the statement were obvious. “but i guess that means i need to find somewhere else to put this cake.”
“Mm, bit of a pickle you’re in, there. You should try the Great Hall,” Lily said, eyes wide and innocent. Ey wanted to laugh - precious boy, precious friends who kept baking - “I’m sure there are a few Firsties who’d be glad to take it off your hands.”
