Work has been so incredibly busy. I haven’t even had the chance to build up queue. I promise to be on and writing at some point this weekend.

" I am meant to travel and roam. Live in the wind and the trees. I cannot stay here in District Twelve. " She'd be a bird trapped in a cage. " But maybe I can be persuaded to stay here a little longer. " She says with a shake of her head and a gentle chuckle.

She's not sure where she thought she'd end up. But she never thought she'd end up where she was, either. She was not good at talking. In her own opinion, Katniss didn't think she made a good friend, or even a good conversationalist. But here goes attempting. " How did you think you'd end up ? " She asks the older man.

That statement hurts more than the liquor bottles the teenager uses to drown his sorrows. The Victor looks over at the man. His seam gray eyes carry nothing but anger and sorrow, yet he feels numb. " Lucky you. " Haymitch mumbles, bringing a bottle up to his lips to take another swig. There were still more people that Haymitch loved. So Snow can still hurt him now. He can still hurt others.

He lost the person he loves most. His girl. But there are oh so many people that he still loves. Oh, so many people who can be taken from him. Better to lose them himself, so he doesn't have to watch one more person he loves die.

Today was a better day. Not a good day, but better. Katniss was able to somewhat follow her schedule. And she has yet to have the need to make a run for her storage closet. She allows herself to smile as she sees @insightscursed sitting at one of the cafeteria tables. The teenager finds a spot next to the older woman. Enjoying the momentary silence.

" How are you ? " Katniss asks, allowing herself to open up for a chance at conversation. Katniss has not opened herself up to talking much since they arrived in Thirteen.

Her tone is soft, which surprises her; the gentle cadence was, lately, one only reserved for Prim. Perhaps there was a sense of ease being around Wiress, or perhaps there was an innate need that Katniss had to care for the other Victor.

In a world where Burdock did not die, Katniss would have been more open to love, outside of the kind of love she had for her mother and her sister. She would still be a little oblivious, so she would not know when people were openly flirting with her. It might take a little bit for her to catch on to that. But she probably would've actually dated and fallen in love and been a kid and have a more normal teenage life, and like maybe even have made more friends. And in a world where Asterid didn't shut down because of Burdock's death, and Burdock was still alive, the games would have been more dangerous for her. Because with more people to love and care for, her thought process during her first games would have been very different, and it would have likely led to more distractions for her. And would have put even bigger targets on people's backs in a response to her actions. And her story would probably be more aligned with Haymitch's and Johanna's or alternatively more aligned with Finnick’s.
