Happy Juneteenth, everyone! He's a poster I designed for my local Juneteenth celebration!

I hate AI Art!
A little annoyed rn. I applied for a local art show (not even very competitive) and didn't get accepted. Not being accepted didn't bother me until I went and checked the accepted artists and saw one of them is just using straight-up Ai... very obviously...
She doesn't say she uses AI art anywhere and just claims it as her own. However, it's obvious it's Ai. She has that exacted Ai sheen to her art, with wildly different art styles, along with rookie anatomy mistakes someone with that level of finish wouldn't make.
This isn't the first time I've seen AI art in a local show right next to an artist who works hard and puts time into their craft. It's very disheartening to see.
(would it be too messy of me to call it out?)
i love cherryies so i make something wiith them

NOT HERE
Here is 1/3 illustrations I created inspired by ugly jugs. Ugly jugs come from enslaved Black Americans. They weren't able to have proper gravestones so they would use jugs to mark them instead. They would embellish these jugs with ugly faces. They believe these ugly faces would scare off the devil and allow people's spirits to pass to heaven. I choose a panther here because they are a fierce animal that has often been used as a symbol of strength by the black community
NOR HERE

I chose a red clay color here because it reminds me of the red dirt that is characteristic of the South. along with the fact that slavery was very prevalent in the American South, so this ugly jug practice would be commonly seen there
IS THE DEVIL IN HERE?

The jug I made very pretty and whimsical. looks can be deceiving, and this inviting look may not be for the better. It's important to look beyond the surface and see what may really lie beneath
Also, with the water in this piece may suggest this mug may be used, or maybe been sitting outside for a long time and collecting water, also alluding to a long tradition of "pouring one out" Maybe it was poured into this jug, maybe it'll be pour out from this jug. I like to keep the story of this jug open-ended, maybe this jug is a bad omen keeping the spirits from passing on, maybe not the case, I haven't decided.... maybe you can decide
