ian watson died
For those that don't know, Ian Watson was the first writer for Black Library. He was the mind behind the completely insane but forever entertaining "Inquisition war" Trilogy.
I, personally, really like his writing and admired him as an author. He had a charming personal website that he was updating until just last year, that I invite everyone to go visit:
https://www.ianwatson.info/
From there, I invite you all to visit two specific section of his website to discover his work: the time he wrote the script for "A.I: Artificial Intelligence", the Kubrick movie. I know this movie is not wildly beloved, but the story behind how Ian Watson ended up writing it is pretty entertaining, and gave me new appreciation for that movie.
Similarly, if you can *somehow* find an english copy or read french, I suggest reading "Orgasmachine", wich is probably the strangest novel I have read in my life. It's a satyrical scifi erotic feminist mess. It's so strange. It's a delight. I think it might have been one of Ian Watson favorite work, as he mentioned it several time on his website and kept working at it for many years.
Ian Watson was a legend. He was a writer, spoke many languages, was generous with his community, quite funny, and just seemed to be a kind soul. He was doing very forward thinking things with his novels, even in time when it wasn't so popular.
Go read aomething by him today. The world is a bit less whimsical without him.
