I MEAN… Nuzleaf was under Yveltal’s control the whole time iirc? he wasn’t himself until you kicked Yveltal’s ass, so he didn’t do that stuff on his own

IIRC. Yveltal and Nuzleaf and everyone in their gang was acting under the influence of Dark Matter, which in turn came from the darkness of everyone’s hearts. It’s why he has the same stone-transforming powers that Yveltal apparently did. I think Nuzleaf even apologized in post-game because he did those terrible things but it came from his heart within him.

I was really hoping the game would explain what was going on for Yveltal and Nuzleaf. Sure, Yveltal is an avatar for destruction–and I was ready to accept that he was a Bittercold type of situation where he was just acting on his true nature–maybe pushed by extenuating circumstances/unnatural causes.
