wip for a twitter art challenge

For Vis Lit’s final project, I made a site to show my work with a dedicated space for potential commission inquiries. Here are some previews for both desktop and mobile. There’s still tweaks and more ideas that I would like to explore with this idea, but ultimately I don’t think I would use a website like this outside of class. I feel as though a website isn’t for me, but maybe a dedicated portfolio site and social media would be best with my work style (at least when I’m still in school and a hobbyist.)

Monogram Design

For this project, we had to create a monogram using our initials. This was a little hard for me with both the fact that I was stumped creatively for ideas and also had to deal with the transition to remote learning; however, I believe it turned out alright!

This design is a little different from a standard monogram, but I wanted to make it more of an illustration or scene to represent my love for art and my desire to work in the industry.

I chose this design because I've been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizon, a new game released by Nintendo where you play on an island. It's been a relaxing game to keep my mind off things and it inspired the final product immensely. I plan to create different versions of this logo in different environments in order to show how it can evolve into different locales as a sort of travel series (seeing as though I can't really get out much for the foreseeable future lol)

School Blog - Event Assignment 1

The other night, my mom used Instagram to listen to celebrity DJ Derrick “D-Nice” Jones’s virtual dance party and I tuned in as well. With the recent COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) outbreak, many people (hopefully) are staying indoors to keep from getting themselves or others sick. Several artists such as D-Nice have resorted to live streaming their music. D-Nice held a “social distancing dance party” at what he calls Homeschool at Club Quarantine.

I thought the idea was cute and my mom had a blast joining in. A lot of big names joined on the stream as well and it slowly devolved into a bunch of shoutouts and politicians trying to get on the next morning’s trending, but it was all in good fun. The music stylings were varied with a majority being hip hop, rnb, and old school rap.

03/06/20 typography assignment

I decided to create a poster based off an excerpt of Maya Angelou’s And Still I Rise using several images that I found from various sources that I complied here on my Pinterest. I wanted to communicate my feelings towards Black history and hope and how I feel that the month should have a focus on uplifting the Black community with positivity along with learning the more upsetting parts of our history.

This is Nia and I will keep my work from my Visual Literacy class here from now on!

My school’s Visual Communication Design Media Arts major requires me to take a class in visual literacy is the ability to interpret, negotiate, and make meaning from information presented in the form of an image, extending the meaning of literacy, which commonly signifies interpretation of a written or printed text.
