Recently our PDC designers and business owners got together to discuss all things design related. Some how some way the conversation turned to fun questions like “if you could live anywhere, where would it be?” and “what three items would you take with you on a deserted island?”. Apparently we are taken off topic rather easily!
By the end of the meeting it was decided that we would all answer some ‘get to know me’ questions and share our answers with one another. Based on a few designers desire to be a yellow crayon if they were to choose one from the crayon box, here are a few pictures (found on Google) incorporating the color yellow into your home. Each photo represents a business found within the PDC.
1. When it comes to choosing your cabinets, countertops, appliance package and other “big ticket” items for your kitchen white, marble and stainless are always timeless selections. By incorporating accent pieces you tailor the space to your style while also giving yourself the option to change those pieces as your style changes or evolves. The yellow light fixtures over the island in this photo brings a pop of color to the space and adds a modern vibe.
The designers of Sugarbridge Kitchen and Bath have been busy designing traditional, transitional and contemporary looks for their clients. Most recently they completed a kitchen project for a shore home. The ocean view and summer breeze certainly lent to the designers choice of greens, blues, coral and grays found in the custom designed backsplash. Visit www.Sugarbridge.com to view photos of this project or stop in to their showroom located at the Paoli Design Center.
2. Why let your lemons and limes sit inside your refrigerator when they can sit in a beautiful bowl on your countertop instead? The lemons and limes featured in this photo add color contrast to an otherwise neutral backsplash and countertop. Everything about this is visually pleasing.
3. In addition to adding lemons to your design decor why not bring in the color yellow in your window treatments? The grey and yellow pattern draws your eye up and beyond the kitchen windows into what we can only imagine is a beautifully landscaped backyard.
4. The grey and yellow combination continues into this chic dining room. The panels extending from the ceiling to the floor are dramatic while also feminine adding a softness in the overall feel of the room.
The designers behind Window Concepts are finding that more and more clients are incorporating these colors into their design scheme when choosing window treatments and accessories. Fabrics are available for your viewing pleasure in their showroom at the Paoli Design Center. www.windowconceptspa.com.
5. The yellow fabric featured on these dining room chairs adds a richness to the room that begs you to make your way into the room to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee. Not to mention the buttery golden hue looks lovely against the dark hardwood floors and in our opinion alleviates the need for an area rug.
6. As you can tell from this area rug grey and yellow work quite well together. The pictured rug is on trend with its pattern and color combination, and when placed against the dark wood floors and light colored walls and trim really brings the room together. A carefully placed sofa and coffee table and this room is ready to be enjoyed by all.
Couture Rug Gallery has recently added new and modern accent rugs to their showroom. If you are a fan of the grey hues you will enjoy their newest selections.
7. Have ever thought to paint the mantle of your fireplace yellow? We would not thought to do that either, but we are loving this idea! By keeping the surround light and neutral in color this mantle becomes the center of attention, but is not overwhelming. After ogling the mantle your eye is drawn up to the decorative details and black & white photography. A sense of balance is brought to the room by the addition of yellow accent pieces.
Whatever your level of fireplace need may be Dreifuss Fireplaces, recently named “Best of 2015″ by House and Home Magazine, can fulfill those needs. From inserts to wood-burning stoves to fireplace accessories they have what you are looking for housed within their 5,000 sq. ft. showroom on Hasbrook Avenue in Philadelphia. You can also view their display at the Paoli Design Center. www.dreifussfireplaces.com.
8. When you want something more unique than paint or wallpaper why not apply a fine finish to your walls? Venetian Plaster is applied with a trowel in very thin layers and provides a rich look with depth and movement. The plaster is smooth to the touch, yet provides a beautiful visual texture much like the photo shown above. To learn more about Venetian Plaster and other fine finishes visit www.LuxeWalls.com. To see a sampling of their work visit the Paoli Design Center.
9. Closets are an important part of anyone's home. Having a great closet system helps to keep your items organized and your home a little less cluttered. This wall unit with its custom interior and exterior finish looks more like than a piece of furniture than your standard storage unit. And as the theme of this blog post goes, the color of this unit is yellow! Much different than anything else you have probably seen before, or at least it was for us.
Interested in adding a closet system to your home? Did you know that these systems are not limited to just your wardrobe closets? You can also add storage systems to your linen or pantry closets. Organizational systems are also great in a play room or garage. To view such systems visit Closet & Storage Concepts showroom at the Paoli Design Center. C&SC also offers complimentary in-home consultations. To schedule your appointment call 888-843-2567.
Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy blog post. We enjoyed putting it together for you!
