Day 18: Au day

I can type faster than I can draw, sooo..... College Au? But not quite what you're thinking.

Alright so, Hypno's a student that got transferred into Hermit Crafte Amass University to continue his coding/computers degree. One of he's required credits lands him in Tactics of War 401, taught by Professor Knight. There he meets xB and during some break time, he notices an odd document that xB is working on. When he asks xB about it he explains it's a running gag with some other students (hermits) about their professors. xB starts to yap about some before going on a (quiet) rant about Wels. He's pretty open with most things but he refuses to say too much about his partner. The only thing they have to go off of is a general age, close to Wels'.

xB swears he knows it's Professor Jevin but most other hermits shrug him off saying "but they can't stand to be around each other". Which is where Hypno mentions he has Professor Jevin for another class and he could work with xB to (potentially) prove his point.

Thus begins a semester gathering "evidence" or really hearing a passing word, Jev's yapping (/othe professors), or a quick glance as they pass by.

The tipping point is when Wels comes in late and a little scattered brained. Which he is profusely apologizing for and it slips that he and some other professors went out drinking Saturday, it's Monday by the way, and his husband got sick so he was up kinda late last night. Hypno immediately perks up and goes, "wait, Professor Jev?" because he had received a notice they will not have class tomorrow due to Jevin's absences. Wels, still getting set up, nods. There's a moment of silence til a student abruptly went "You're married... To Jevin?!"

Wels was genuinely confused by this and just nodded again because he thought they all knew that. And he had to clear some things up: it's not that they can't stand each other, it's more that Jev isn't always professional when he's around Wels; Jev is called professor Jevin because two Knights would get confusing; and if the little things weren't obvious (they aren't) Wels knows Jev yaps (the reason you don't so easily get it out of Jev is for times like these, Wels having to explain).

No... no work was done that class.

I felt need to share this previous conversation and how it went

Undisclosed Friend: Y'know, a vampire and werewolf Hermitcraft au is something I need in my life

Me: Oh?.... Wait, do you mean Vampire and Werewolf au or vampire AND werewolf au?

Undisclosed Friend: Papi, that's the same thing

Me: No! No, it's not! Vampires and Werewolves au is talking about two different aus. One is where all the hermits are either a vampire/werewolf or a human.

If it's vampires AND werewolves, it implies that the hermits are divided into either being a werewolf, vampire, OR human.

Undisclosed Friend: .... ah huh

Me: But anyways, yes I do need that in my life (one that's not centered around the main 3 though)

Ok but I haven't stopped thinking about it. Because imagine a really sweet werewolf au with Wels and Jevin (yes, I'm back to my propaganda). Like the hermits are, for the most part, evenly divided as either a werewolf or human.

Wels and Jev have been friends for years, they're like in their 30s roughly. And what starts the au off is after Wels and Jev are done watching a baseball game and drinking (though it's mostly Wels since Jev plans on driving home). They do the whole "bye, see you tomorrow at lunch" or whatever and Jev leaves, forgetting his jacket. Which is a common occurrence.

So now it's like 22-2300 (10-11 pm for you Americans) and one of Wels' buzzers is going off, which is apart of a wolf trap system because he doesn't want bears (or morons) too close to his house. And while he really doesn't want to go check it till morning cause he's tired, he's compelled to. Just in case it's a fawn or something that got stuck.

Well, low and behold it's not a fawn but a large dog? No, it's more wolf-like. It's gone ahead and gotten it's tail caught and leg wrapped around some twine. He feels a little guilty since it's on its own and seems to have a collar (so he assumes it's maybe a pet or something??), which turns out to be a go-pro actually.

So, he uses some cloth to tie the mouth closed and starts undoing the twine and getting it out of the mess it created.

Eventually, Wels takes it to his shed and into a pin that used to be for his childhood dog when it was a puppy and he was little. He puts the go-pro on a shelf that views most of the room and patches the wolf thing up to the best of a drunken lads abilities, gives it a blanket and calls it a tomorrow problem.

Well, tomorrow comes and Wels is up early to get ready for the day and to check on the wolf. Only to freak out when he sees a lad in his shed instead. And after cautiously going in to find out it's actually Jev, who is slowly starting to wake up, panics a bit. After frantically getting Jev in the house, giving him some clothes, and calling his work to be like "hey, I'm gonna be late, sorry..." He makes some coffee for both of them, panicking the entire time thinking that he was somehow so drunk he mistook his best friend for a wolf.

Then Jev does the whole embarrassing "well, yes but also no -- i.e I'm a (still learning) werewolf" dance. Wels genuinely thinks Jev's pulling his leg to save him of embarrassment and doesn't believe Jev. Who tries to hastily leave because he knows he's in big trouble now. And a little after he leaves, Wels goes back to the shed remembering the go-pro and plays it back on his computer. To which he does realize that Jevin was telling the truth.

When Wels finally finds him again, he's apologizing and discreetly gives/tells him back the go-pro and USB drive. (Basically pretending it didn't happen because he doesn't know the consequences but he's a wee bit worried, more for Jev's sake though).

And that's about the time xB finds Jev and while Wels goes to get Jev's jacket from the truck xB tells Jevin that if anyone asks, "you 'explained' it to them" and slides Jev the loop holes before Wels comes back.

I need to stop, but you get the idea right??! Please, I need to duck tape my mouth...

I don't know who needs to hear this... But! I love meanings and symbols and whatnot, so.... Uh, as a thank you (?) to Searching For a World That Doesn't Exist, I would love to present this!

The name Derek is a German name. Der meaning "lord" and ek meaning "people/mass" or "tribe".

So his name quite literally translates to "Lord of the people".

Now what's interesting is in Hebrew, it's a noun which refers to a path or road.

And one last thing for him.... His username is d3rlord3. We've already gone over what der means, but... guess the third colour of the rainbow? Mhmm, it's yellow <3

Anyways, Avery's name is rather special actually. It doesn't have a specific gender attached to the name, similar to slimes. But moreover, Avery can be found in a couple different nations/languages. So it takes on different meanings.

It's a unique name for sure, though it can be a somewhat a silly name. His name either means "Ruler of Elves" or "Wise ruler".

Which is two completely different ways to go about his name, but that's what makes it so special.

No, no but hear me out. What if County!Wels and City!Jevin?? Hold on, please!

Alright, so Jev ends up going back to see his dad after like years, right? Like he's trying to get away and take a vacation. His dad, probably Beef, runs a ranch. If you don't know, basically they take people in and they work on the ranch. It can either be an internship/camp or any actual job. A lot of the time they sleep/live in a separate small house not too far from were the owner lives.

Anyways! So Jev's going up there for a vacation and whatnot. Unbeknownst to him, in the two weeks he's staying there's a rodeo going on (not for the full two weeks, just in the first one for a few days). But the point is they're busy. So most people are kinda shrugging it off but trying to be friendly as they work around him.

At dinner though is when Jev actually gets to know people. There's not many of them; Hypno and Wels - brothers, False and Etho. After Jev asks what they all are doing in the rodeo, they decide it'd be funnier to show him. Like bull riding, barrel racing, horse breaking and cow wrestling, you get the idea.

Through the course of the vacation, Wels is re-teaching Jev cowboy life (sure, why not?) but he does eventually have to go home.

And Wels writes him letters while on cattle drives. Slowly they get to know each other and yeah...

That's as far as I've gotten :')

Eight's name doesn't feel random...

I mean come on, we know Legundo. He loves theatrics, it's in his character. So Eight's name gotta mean or reference something, right? (or maybe I'm just a mad lad)

Other than Eight being in the walls sounds like ate walls or eight ball. I actually want to look more into the latter - eight ball. Over getting to know me, you'll pick up that I love symbolism. And eight balls tend to represent luck, fate, and chance. The balance of good and bad fortune. Which he's found himself in a way. Due to the nature of it, it also means strength, mystery, and completion.

By chance he's decided to pull away, to be his own entity. And he's found good fortune in the chunk, along with troubles against clump (side tangent: it can also be associated with drug dealing - 1/8th ounce. Which when minting clümp, it was joked). We know very little about him and he's choosing, for the time being, to keep us in the dark.

There's also a saying, "behind the eight ball." It's used when you're in a tough spot (it comes from pool, if you were wondering). Or "being in a pinch." Eight's always dealing with something, more recently being the core.

But may I suggest another reason? Which, in a way, is much simpler. He's the eighth version of Legundo. Legs has districtly been in eight different servers, eight different versions, with their own separate troubles and victories.

Single player:

Horror island (Or any one-shot that doesn't fit into its own neat and compartmentalized series)

UHC Generations (Could also count his own 1-3 hardcore worlds)

100 DMV (He has mentioned that they are in a way the same lad. Duh, "multiverse" implies that. He gets "rewarded" with some peace when he lives and when he dies.... in a way he gets "punished")

Multi-server:

Deceit smp

Dominion smp (Is its own case study....)

Scenario smp (Commonly does this Legs refer to past scenarios and how they ended. This one I'm most familiar with and he's calculated. Choosing words and people he lets close carefully. But he's willing to take the risk, if there is a high reward or pay off)

Skyblock kingdoms (You....)

Vampires smp (Bricks)

The only flaw in that theory is Vsmp came after SBK (but really the concept of time and space is, well... just a concept after all, now isn't it?). However when Eight started hinting that something was off, is after Vsmp had or was coming to a close and he was returning to SBK.

But I could argue that Eight becoming sentient is out of the blue. And maybe something triggered it.

Je ne sais pas, food for thought... whomever that may be.

I love the idea that the original Legundo is an eldritch that resides in an archive mind palace as he shapes the next Legs to be dropped into another 100 days/server. Different Legundo, different hybrid adaptation to have him last just that wee bit longer.
