Not been active here much since the skating season is what it is this year, especially since p/c are my favourites and they’ve been mostly quiet lately (understandably so)

But for now I still have skating classes (my normal class has been split in four smaller groups because of covid) and I just wanted to be a bit excited for a moment. I’m an adult beginner, started skating september 2019

Yesterday I’m pretty sure I landed a pretty decent waltz jump, several times in fact. My coach wasn’t there so I can’t say exactly, but it felt right, I could tell I was doing all of the right motions at least, so I hope they came together right.

My spiral is also getting better. I think I got it right once on Monday. Couldn’t get it yesterday, but I’m getting closer. On a flat edge, and only on my right leg right now, but I’m still really happy with that progress.

Gabi and Guillaume will skip French Nationals and Europeans and focus on worlds (if it happens) since Gabi may not be allowed to return to Canada (she's not a resident) and they don't want to be stuck in Europe or be seperated. They talk about focussing training for one goal - the world championships as the olympic qualifier

Guillaume is in France right now visiting his family that he hasn't seen since February, he will quarantine once he gets back to Montreal the beginning of December and they will resume training once he's completed his quarantine.

Gabi said her grandfather passed away and she wasn't able to go to his funeral, she says it was a very hard choice to make and that she misses her family a lot.

They both had Covid at the same time in July and were symptomatic.

Their main income from shows has gone away but they feel well supported by their federation

In other news while I still can’t do one I’m no worse at doing a waltz jump now than I was in March

Very excited. Managed multiple backwards crossovers today.

I did one for the first time only last week, so I’m really proud of myself.

Does anyone have any recommendations for off ice exercises?

I sort of stopped doing off ice and I’m trying to get back to it, but I want to switch things up a bit with something new.

I’m interested in pretty much anything, but if anyone knows any that are good for back and shoulder strength I’m especially interested in those

I lost a lot of progress being away from the ice March-August and I’m trying not to feel too down about it so anyway here’s a post to commemorate the fact that I learned something new

I managed a backwards crossover yesterday!

I’ve been really scared of them, so I’m really proud of myself for doing one. Hoping I’ll be able to do more than one next time I go skating!
