Another WIP is Kekeno / NZ fur seal. A few of them froliced on Tīkipa Moana, the work I created for the Whale Tale project. Kahukura is completed, I am so stoked with how it turned out. Capturing the rich, velvety nature of the wings scales, was a key focus within the watercolour painting. Prints will available to purchase at the @generalcollective Market next weekend. The perfect market for that uber market fix. An excellent place to get a special gift for Mother's Day, present for someone else or that/those treat/s for yourself. A sneak peek at a fresh illustration in progress. It continues my ongoing interest in our delightful, quirky native species, some diurnal and some nocturnal. This is one of our 28 species of native bees who are solitary and dig burrows, rather than live in colonies.
