See you there...
Ok It's been too long.
Had a major setback with the work, which is now resolving.
I'm now helping oversee a local Games and Geeks Group, which gives me four dedicated hours to work on GN2.
I've been doing masses of other work, just not the GN.
This was lino cut designs for midwinter 2025, "hope" being my favourite!
I make these, mainly for refugee charities, a bit of sunshine in a difficult world, this is something like number 35!
The fish are for a local project, after twenty I'd had enough! My granddaughter got one, I told her it was a Babel fish - see Hitchhikers Guide...
I've called these "Reticules" - created for the next Steampunk weekend in Kirkcudbright, beginning June...
Mosaics are difficult in a one-bed flat, so I make them in the shed, summer only work really!
Early pages from GN2, lives of five women and the mental health challenges they are facing. I know what their beginnings are, and where they end up: it's just the middle that's not too clear!!
Good day at Sequential Scotlandās first event.
Sequential Scotland is on today, first time.
at the Double Tree Hilton, Glasgow
See you thereā¦
Yippee! Delighted to be at the first SEQUENTIAL SCOTLAND event. šššš½
2nd August:
Double Tree Hilton, 36 Cambridge Street, Glasgow G2 3HN
SEE YOU THEREā¦
These are five zines focussing on five women, different ages, backgrounds and experiences. Their stories, each focussing on a mental health crisis, will form the second graphic novel. To give me a starting point I created a room for each, and that 3D object will also be presentā¦
These are the Zines for Teens that came out of the graphic novel because itās not suitable for under 16s.
They deal with self-harm, dissociation and gender identity.
This is the graphic novel that came out of the pandemic, telling the story of Torn Teen and the long term impact on mental health of childhood trauma.
This is Torn Teen, puppet whose stage presence was cancelled due to a pandemic.
zines and thingsā¦
These are some of the things Iāll have at Comicon, and hopefully Sequential Scotland in Augustā¦
All the written materials were supported by mental charity See Me Scotland.
Hoping to get a table at this new eventā¦
update
So the first GN award application went in this week, see how that goesā¦
AND A table confirmed at POWER Gaming & Comic Con, SEC Glasgow 8-9 March 2025.
Look out for Abi and See Me thereā¦
5 Women Zines and First Graphic Novel Awardā¦
Iāve been getting feedback and suggestions from folk about the zines that precede the next graphic novel. Very useful. The overwhelming comment is that people feel drawn into the womenās stories, which is great. So Iām going to start working out how to interweave the five stories into one GN. I know pretty much where each woman is going to end up, all I need to do is get them thereā¦
The first GN I wrote, Iām going to enter for the award. It wonāt win, itās too disturbing, and Iām not interested in winning, but I want to take part. Here I am, nearly 70, living my best life, at last, and part of the reason for that is because I spent two years plus, writing my own story for the first time.
MORE GOOD NEWS!
Dates have been announced for two Comicon events at the SEC under a new bannerā¦
Fan Frontier: POWER Gaming and Comicon, 8/9 March 2025
and: EPIC Comicon 6/7 September 2025
We had so much good feedback in Sept 2024 about bringing mental health to Comicon, it feels really important to apply againā¦.
Really pleased this is going ahead. Met these people at Thought Bubble in Harrogate, interesting how many Scots make the trip down to the best Comicon of them all š
Just a couple of weeks to BGCP Comicon in Dumfries.
After that, itās off to Thought Bubble in November.
Looking forward to both.
