I’m korean but I’m by no means a linguist, those are just some of the random stuff I noticed while watching v lives or radio shows
witty and can do word plays on the spot (ex: “do u have any special skills (개인기, pronounced gaeinki)?” “no I have popularity (인기, pronounced inki)”)
not all his puns are good tho ajhsbfkjfk
quite playful and confident
but he gets embarassed sometimes (when his jokes fail for example)
he’s from jeju island where the dialect is very strong (and barely understandable sometimes) but I didn’t notice him using it, probably bc he’s been living in seoul for quite some time now

I have met 50 year old men (and women) who speak like him ajhbkdsbfksj
he has an old-fashioned way of speaking and never uses slangs as far as I know
really expressive and changes his tone often
he can go from confident to sheepish to teasing to sulky in the span of a few minutes
does hand gestures a lot (thumbs up, pointing fingers…)
very carefree when he speaks and by that I mean that he doesn’t pronounce words clearly!! at all!!!
he talks slowly and stutters a lot
unless he’s animated, then his tone will get faster and his pronunciation will get better
often says 용 (yong) or 여 (yeo) instead of 요 (yo) at the end of verbs
can get shy really easily so he’s one of the quietest members on shows

can be very eloquent and deep and has a poetic way of saying things
says 이제 (now) as a filler word a lot
uses slang but also says more complicated words that aren’t often used by the majority of people his age (probably bc he reads books? idk)
often uses informal speech when he’s working with his members (or when he says something sweet to them) even tho three of them are older than him
the most expressive of the group with yunhyeong
he changes his inflexions quite often (ex: 갑↘️자기↗️ (suddenly?))
uses a dramatic tone for comedic effect (ex: “ladies and gentlemen you are now watching bobby the winner of smtm3)
uses the aegyo way of saying things sometimes (ex: 가지구 (gajigoo) instead of 가지고 (gajigo) to say because)
always uses honorifics (he called bobby hyung even when he woke him up at 2:30 am for shits and giggles)
comments a lot on the side and nowadays he’s kind of the unofficial MC/DJ of the group
but like hanbin he also uses expressions or words that are more complicated (sometimes incorrectly ajshkfjbf)
likes using metaphors randomly
one of the other things that make him seem more mature is his voice, it’s quite deep and pleasant to listen to
says pseudo-poetic nonsense with a straight face (”your beard that suddenly grows, it shows how time passes by”)
often jumps from one idea to another
controls his voice well and always impersonates fans while he’s reading comments
calm but does a lot of short pauses so his tone sounds a bit jerky
sometimes speaks faster but only when he knows that what he’ll say is funny?
very clear pronunciation, probably bc he used to be a child actor
slight aegyo tone when he speaks (and full-on aegyo when he texts ajdshfjhbfk)
open his eyes wider when he’s animated
uses 네 (yes) and 그 (this) as filler words
doesn’t speak often but has the best comedic timing!!!
