At least he wasn’t going to try to kill him. They could get along then. “Downworlders? We’re clumped together with, what? Vampires and faeries and any other non demons?” He cringed at the hiss from the other male and instantly pulled the cloth away to blow on the stinging section he’d just been tending to. “I uh… It’s not something I can talk about here,” the Alpha cleared his throat, mouthed ‘super hearing’ with a wave toward his own ear and went back to bandaging. “I’m gonna ask if they’ll allow me to take you home… If you’ll let me.”
“Basically,” Alec replied. He wasn’t going to lie to the other guy. He didn’t make the rules. That was the Clave. The Clave. He wondered if anyone was looking for him. Had Jace made a fuss yet? He hoped so. If Alec were at all lucky, his parabatai and his sister would be looking for him. On the other hand, he didn’t want them getting captured either. The cool breath on the wound soothed the pain and he nodded, acknowledging that Scott couldn’t talk about certain things in mixed company. “You can’t,” he said gruffly. “I’ve been put on a no claim list.”
Shadowhunter? If he’d learned anything since becoming a werewolf, it was that the word ‘hunter’ could have gone either way. For the most part, it was bad, but he had made friends with one back in his hometown. Besides – those stuck in that dreaded house deserved the benefit of the doubt. A title didn’t make Alec any less worthy of his care or kindness. “You knew?” This guy knew more about his current situation than most others did. “Thought I’d gotten better at not letting people know that I was sniffing them.” It was a weak attempt to lessen the tension. “How much do you know? I mean – about us? There are a lot of wolves in Chains, but it’s not too easy to tell who’s what without being able to smell it.”
A slight smile crossed over Alec’s features and he nodded. “It’s not you. It’s just because of my training. Don’t worry. I don’t hunt werewolves or vampires or anything like that. Just demons. We try and co-exist with Downworlders as much as we can. Only step in if things get out of hand,” he explained. “My ex-boyfriend was a Downworlder.” Not that Scott needed to know any of that but hell, he didn’t have anyone else to talk to. Alec didn’t want this guy to think he was going to attack him or anything, especially when he was the only one thus far to have shown him any kindness. Another hiss of pain left him as Scott continued to work cleaning and bandaging the wounds on his back. “You’re gentle. Why? This place hasn’t broken you?”
@alphaverus
She had waited until the crowd had receded and he was left alone to bleed out in the streets. Skye moved over to him quickly, removing her jacket and kneeling down beside him.
“Don’t worry about me,”
she muttered to him as she wrapped her jacket around his back to stop the bleeding. She knew it had to hurt, but stopping it was necessary.
“Come with me to the house. Let me clean you up. You’ll die if you don’t. Don’t give them the satisfaction.”
Once the pain had settled (a little) and his vision was no longer blurry from it, he took the opportunity to look at the girl that was next to him. Soft features, concern etched into her brow for a perfect stranger. Alec didn’t understand. He knew she wasn’t a master because she didn’t hold herself the way they did. She was a slave, like he was, liable to be in trouble for this but he didn’t move away from her. Albeit, he did flinch when the material of the jacket touched the wounds against his back. A small smile moved across his lips at her words.
“I’ve had worse wounds. If this kills me then I’ll have deserved it.”
Alec doesn’t assume they’ll leave him in the streets to die. They’ll want to break him, mould him into something that can be sold to the highest bitter. What they don’t know is that he’s a warrior and it won’t be an easy job. He looked to the girl next to him.
“Thank you. What’s your name?”
@verszorny
Taken aback by the question, as she wasn’t purposely in anyone’s way – the fact that he was a slave was also a bit of a surprise – Eliza’s eyes narrowed as she looked him over, before settling her features into a neutral state.
“Polite for a slave.”
Although she normally wouldn’t stand to be talked to in such a way by one, she wasn’t in the mood today. Her tone wasn’t harsh, only curious.
“Might I ask why? You could simply go around me.”
The politeness wasn’t all that uncommon for Alec. He wanted to wait until the wounds on his back healed before he got another idea to cause a fuss. He’d only just been released from solitary and he still wasn’t able to be claimed. Not that he minded the latter part. The last thing he wanted was for someone to think he could be owned. That would go over very well.
“Because the thing I’m trying to get...you’re blocking.”
He wasn’t supposed to be in this place, technically but he was hoping to at least find out where they’d stashed the things they’d taken off of him when he’d been caught. If nothing else, he wanted his stele so he could heal himself with a rune.
@thejabberfly
Rye looked to him, furrowing her brow a moment. ❝What are you talking about?❞ Deep was the river of denial.
“Oh don’t play babe in the woods. I saw what you did to her. That was ruthless.” Alec shook his head thinking that the people around him were truly in need of wits.
@tobeopenwounded
He let up on the pressure a bit at Alec’s reaction, but moved another inch and pressed softly once again. “I’m a wolf. Well – werewolf. An Alpha… And I don’t blame you for trying to get out of this place.” The Master pulled away far enough to wet the cloth more, then continued on from where he’d left off. Leaning in a little closer, he inhaled slowly; something was off about the other male’s scent, but it wasn’t bad like some of the others had been when he’d walked through the free house before. “And you?” The question was muffled by his sleeve; head turned in against his own shoulder to give himself something to speak into whenever necessary.
A werewolf, of course. Not that it mattered and not that Alec had anything against Downworlders. Hell, he’d dated one much to his family’s chagrin. The archer almost smirked when he heard the soft inhale of the wolf behind him--almost. If he hadn’t been in such pain from the wounds and the process of cleaning them, he might have been amused that Scott was attempting to figure him out. Maybe it was a bad thing to give the werewolf too much information but Alec didn’t care. He wasn’t going to stick around any longer than he had to but without his stele and other such paraphernalia, he was no match against dozens of guards. “A shadowhunter,” he said. Alec realized Scott might not know what that meant. “Nephilim. A human with angel blood. That’s why I don’t smell right.”
@tobeopenwounded
Scott knelt down beside the other. He could understand the concern and the curiosity about why he wasn’t like the other Masters, but that didn’t mean he could give an honest answer. “I’m doing this because I can… and because there’s a severe lack of humanity around here that I’m doing my best to make up for.” The wolf kept his voice low; words half mumbled and distorted as he glanced around for anyone that might have been watching.
“I’m Scott,” he exhaled, pressing a peroxide-soaked cloth gently against one of the lashes across his back. “I didn’t catch your name… and, sorry if this stings.” Or was it rubbing alcohol that was a bitch on open cuts? How was he supposed to know? It’d been a few years since he needed to clean wounds in such a way.
Alec didn’t want to believe there were decent people in a place like Chains. Surely anyone that owned another person (be it werewolf, vampire, human or otherwise) couldn’t be a good person. If they were, they’d run as far away from this place as they could. Still, he didn’t hesitate to lift the shirt that was soaked in his blood to expose the wounds on his back to the master. The last time he’d gotten punished, they’d fed him the vampire blood and he’d healed but this was the third time he’d been caught trying to escape. They might not care if he healed if they didn’t plan to sell him. “I’m Alec,” he muttered. The shadowhunter bit down on his bottom lip as Scott cleaned the wounds. It wasn’t so much the antiseptic that hurt as the pressure of it. “What are you?”
@tobeopenwounded
“No, I’m not,” he stated just as plainly in response. “It doesn’t matter what you’ve been through before – I saw what they did to you and, vampire blood or not, you need a little help right now. Whatever happens later won’t be enough to help you feel at all better now…”
“I brought you tylenol, bandages, ointment, peroxide,” each item was listed as they were set out between them. “You don’t owe me anything for this, and you can try to do it on your own, but I’m offering… I have two pets of my own I take care of; a few bandages is the least I can do for someone that isn’t mine.”
Alec didn’t get it. This was a place crawling with people who made a life out of owning people and treating them like animals and yet here was this...person he didn’t know who was offering not only supplies but help. He thought about taking the supplies and asking the master to leave but he knew he couldn’t reach the whip lashes on his back. At least not all of them. Slowly, he nodded.
“I can’t reach them on my own so I’ll take your help.” He wasn’t going to thank the master just yet. “Why are you doing this?”
tobeopenwounded
What he’d seen was horrifying. How could anyone be punished for wanting their freedom? Scott couldn’t help himself; he had to check on the one that’d been made into some horrible example. (He had to believe it was an example, because it was better than thinking it could have been entertainment on some level for a vast collection of those that had witnessed it. Equipped with a first aid kit and a handful of extra items that may have been useful, he’d made his way to the slave house in his own attempt to right the wrongdoings.
“I know… But I’m not leaving until you’re taken care of. I just need you to trust me.”
“You’re not a slave,” Alec stated. It wasn’t a question but a statement. The man in front of him, probably not much older than he was, didn’t have the look or feel of someone who had been suppressed. Interesting. That didn’t mean he was going to be trustful either, especially not after what had just occurred. Alec had seen many horrible things in his life as a shadowhunter but nothing seemed quite as terrible as people enslaving people. So he made no move toward the Master, unable to tell off the bat if the guy was human or supernatural. His eyes narrowed.
“You don’t need to take care of me. You think this is the first time I’ve gotten the shit kicked out of me since being here? They’ll force vampire blood down my throat in a few hours to heal the wounds. Maybe. I don’t know. I’m a no claim status. I’m too much trouble, apparently.”
His mouth is bloody and he’s sweaty, hair plastered to his forehead from the beating he’s taken. He’d been caught trying to escape again but this time, the big wigs had made a spectacle of him in the middle of the city. The broken skin on his back stings worse than anything he’s ever felt and he doesn’t even have access to his stele to a healing rune. That’s grounds for infection he is sure.
“You shouldn’t be here,” he muttered to the shadow that crossed over him. “You’ll be next if they catch you.”
@lionxlilyxevans
“If you want to get out of this place, you ought to be smarter about it and fly under the radar.”
@thejabberfly
“You shouldn’t have done that. Hurt that girl. She has a master. What if he retaliates?”
@verszorny
The archer looked down at the woman that stood before him. It wasn’t to be condescending, he was just naturally very tall. He also didn’t need to hear her say that she was a mistress and his eyes did narrow slightly. The woman was also a vampire, a Downworlder in such a place. Who’d have thought.
“Can you please move aside, miss?”

Character Name: Alec Lightwood Species: Nephilim Character Age: 20 Sexual Orientation: Homosexual Master: Currently a free slave. Turn Ons: Biting, foreplay, praise, mild dirty talk Turn Offs: scat, blood play, urine, feet, etc. Bio:
Shadowhunters exist all over the world. In every big city in every state in every country. You won’t know they exist unless you’re part of the supernatural crowd. They’re purpose? To hunt demons and protect the human world from those demons and rogue Downworlders such as vampires, werewolves and the fey. They operate in secret, each with the special abilities given to them by angelic runes they mark their skin with. Only a nephilim can bear these marks. What is a nephilim? Simple. They’re a creature born half human and half angel. Alec Lightwood is one of these creatures. A brave and loyal Shadowhunter and friend but even someone as thorough and careful as Alec can make mistakes. That’s how Alec ended up in Chains. By not so happy mistake.
It was innocent enough. After all, he and his siblings had come to Seattle to help their brethren with an influx of demon activity. It had been while tracking a demon that Alec found himself within the walls of Chains. Try as he might, he couldn’t manage to escape before he was thrown into a form of ‘quarantine’ where he was tested for various health reasons and to be cleared of diseases. After that, Alec was placed into a slave house where he’s remained ever since. Alec often tries to find a way to get out of Chains but with his resources having been diminishes and his weapons taken from him (including his stele) on top of the microchip now embedded in his hand, each day becomes less hopeful. The more time that passes in Chains, the smaller his chances seem to be getting.
Alec is mostly quiet, choosing to be alone most of the time. The last thing he wants is any form of an attachment to someone. He hopes that he can fly under the radar enough that a master won’t claim him and he can continue to try and plan some kind of an escape, even if the chances are slim. He won’t stop trying to get back to the world he belongs to.
Any Observations: Alec is a brand new slave to Chains. While he’s no virgin, he’s never delved into the world of sex fetishes and kinks. He’s a clean slate.
