Introduction!!!

Ok hiii I'm toki (yes I like to spell it with a lowercase t lol). I am a 17 year old girl from the U.S. who is very boring and very lazy. I'll be honest I don't really understand Tumblr very well so I don't know how much I'll be using this account, but I'll probably be posting either my art, pretty pictures that I find online, music/ videos that I like, or my nonsense ramblings.

In terms of stuff that I'm interested in it's a lot of stuff from Japan particularly from the 1980s or 70s. Things like music, movies, tv shows, anime, fashion, art it's all just really cool imo so expect a good amount of this blog to be about old Japanese shit.

Some screencaps I took while I was watching Akira Kurosawa's High and Low! I don't usually watch 60s films which is why I was putting off on watching anything Kurosawa related for a while, but I'm super glad that I finally decided to try one of his movies out because this movie was super cool.

I'm actually watching this movie for my final project in my english class. The assignment is that we get to pick a book that has a film adaptation, then write a paper and do a presentation about how they're different! So I decided to compare High and Low with the original book that it was loosely based on called King's Ransom: An 87th Precinct Mystery!

There's actually a loooot of differences between the two, the movie itself only really adheres to the book's story for the first 40 minutes before going off on it's own whole different plot. The original book was pretty nice, but this movie is able to elaborate on the original story and make it so much more interesting! I'm always a fan of media that centers around cool detectives or police dudes solving cases, so the movie's choice to focus more on the 'finding the criminal' aspect of the story rather than focusing on the fairly unlikable character drama that was in the book was a big plus when it came to my enjoyment of the film. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone that's curious! I totally want to check out some more Kurosawa films in the future!!!

It's a shame I can't seem to find a higher quality version of this song anywhere else. But while the audio is kinda quiet, can I just say that I lovvve this video???!!

"Let's Go Nice Night/Knight" (I've seen the title be spelled both ways...) is a song from the artist 翔 or Shou, who is most well known for being part of the band Yokohama Ginbae and is also the brother of fellow member Yoshiyuki Tamiya or Yoshiyuki Ran. This is probably my favorite song from Shobaku, and while there has been a rip of one of his LPs featuring his music in Shobaku (courtesy of MartyMcflies!), for some reason it didn't include this song. If anyone ever finds or makes a better quality rip of this song I would be forever in their debt lol.

Also all the photos in this video were cute and an interesting glimpse into the real delinquent kids of the 80s :0

I just now found someone who ripped most of the Shobaku osts omg.....

From what I've seen, none of the albums include Let's Go Nice Knight sadly, but it's still really cool regardless because I didn't even know that any of these were ripped until now!!

This actually reminds me that I should work on scanning my two Shobaku books that I bought a while ago.

I actually already scanned one of the books, but a lot of the pages looked kinda crappy because I was too scared to take the book apart. Maybe I'll work on making some better scans tomorrow....

i watched the newest subbed episode of tantei monogatari just now (episode 4)!! i wish these episodes came out more often, i would honestly sacrifice my first born if it meant that these eps came out a bit faster lmao.

after having not watched anything with yusaku matsuda in it for a while just seeing kudo being silly really brings a smile to my face :DD

and omg!!!!!!!! the outfit he wears in this episode is the same one that he wears in the closing!!! i was looking forward to when he would wear this, it's super stylish :00

my fav ep still is currently 2, but this was still very solid!! plenty of fun moments that had me giggling. i wish matsuda did more comedic roles because he really is a charismatic and funny actor

also we got to see matsuda doing some singing which is always fun to see since i'm a fan of his music. he's just this really raspy and gruff voice that is very distinctly his. it's a bit of an acquired taste and i may just like it because it's yusaku matsuda but i still thought that it was really neat to see :)
