“careful” ivy warned, a touch too close to one of her patrons. she pulled the rose from his hands and offered it to him at a better angle. “this one still has its thorns, grab her wrong and you’ll be sorry.” not that she’d mind him getting pricked, this was his third bouquet in only two weeks. maybe she needed to make a home delivery, check on his wife. her frequent shoppers were always the worst.
but she sent him away without a fuss. alone, ivy reached into her pocket and found the lipstick she was donning. as she started to touch up, the front door rang. annoyed, she turned to see who had entered. given the late hour, she expected another drunk or someone more belligerent. like the goons she screwed over on a recent heist. “can i help you?” she asked, shoving her lipstick back into her pocket.
Kara really wanted to bring something back for her friend. The first thing she grabbed were tickets to one of the Broadway plays in three months, and now, she decided she needed one more thing, instead of just handing her the tickets, she wanted this to be special. Because Lena was her friend and she wanted her to know she cared.
When she found a flower shop that had been heralded as an out of the way yet very good local one, she slipped inside. She was still wondering what on earth you grabbed for friendship when someone she could only assume was the owner spoke, “Oh- hi! I’m Kara,” she began, a smile spreading across her face, “I was wondering if you could help me put together a bouquet for a friend? I want to grab her something nice to give her with these,” she said, awkwardly holding up the two Broadway tickets, “I was in the area for work and decided while I was here I could grab something nice for her and... well, I fly home soon so I wanted to grab something special from here and flowers seemed nice!”
