Every day here feels heavier than the one before.

My family and I are struggling with severe malnutrition. Food is no longer something we can rely on — it’s something we desperately hope to find.

It makes me a bit sad that the One Piece live-action show is so high-quality. Why does this much effort have to go into the work of someone who‘s been actively laundering the reputations of convicted child predators for many years now 😕

Not only does Oda steadfastly defend Nobuhiro “terabytes” Watsuki, he’s also close with Mitsutoshi “paid teens for ‘service’” Shimabukuro. He did five collabs helping promote Toriko, the series Shimabukuro made after his conviction in 2002 (which it’s suspected his connection to Oda allowed him to do in the first place).

Also, the parts of Oda’s worldview that let him excuse their crimes are very much reflected in OP itself 😬

There’s a character whose running gag is that she accuses men of sexual harassment.

He consistently frames adults (mostly men) being into teens (mostly girls) as something that’s totally unremarkable. Just keeps casually dropping it in (I counted something like 10 instances way back in 2018). Even when the adult is meant to be vile, it’s strictly for non-age-related reasons.

Plus the general misogyny.

All way too sickeningly real when penned by someone who’s publicly buddies with people who’ve hurt girls.

I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t get around to starting 🐜 after all, but that’s fine. Honestly, I kind of lost enthusiasm for it (at least for the time being) during the process of writing out the plot outline. It just doesn’t feel quite “baked” yet. I do want to start at least one new project this year. I just don’t know what it should be. There are a few ideas fighting for dominance inside my brain, but the most developed is #1 of Yet Another Series (just a duology, but still) so I want to wait until I’m done with the Verdantland Trilogy.
