So i have biid (body integrity identity disorder) and i feel extremely alone and ashamed as its a rare mental disorder. (Yes im seeing someone about it) but id love to meet people with the same disorder and talk about our struggle and just not feel alone anymore. If you could help about it it would be awesome!

Now, onto the ask itself: hi stephantyronereynard, I’m mod Bee and I hope I’ll be able to help you out. As I said in a different ask some days ago, illnesses are not a moral compass for our behaviour, they’re completely amoral, and having them doesn’t make us bad, or shameful.
I understand that finding someone with the same disorders we have can be a huge relief and can help us fight shame, and I did find some online communities for you:
r/biid, a subreddit dedicated to biid
somethings-off-blog, a blog run by someone with BIID
a german forum, with only a few posts in English
if you look through the biid tag on tumblr, you’ll find other users with biid. There are also some potential upsetting posts, though - by people who don’t really understand the disorder and say incorrect things about it - so please be cautious.
If you’re in the US, there’s an Body Integrity Identity Disorder gathering, although the last one seems to have been held in 2011. You could contact biid.org to inquire if others will be organized in the future.
Have you asked your therapist/psychiatrist about this? They may be able to connect you with other patients, or direct you to support groups.
