winnix cohabiting after the war in new jersey and the nerves are running high and everything's so complicated and stanhopes there and dick just got into a fight with nix. so nix of course brings a random stray cat out of nowhere as a peace offering. like to me he's genuinely the type to have 5 cats 7 dogs a lizard and a fishbowl all at once while dick's perfectly content with a single 11yr old dog (they compromise)
