This makes a mockery of everything the USA is supposed to stand for. Democracy and freedom of speech. Leave your presudency with a real statement.
Dear President Obama, please pardon Chelsea Manning. She should not be in prison for telling the truth, for exposing war crimes and corruption. Punish the war criminals, not the whistleblowers. Please do the right thing. The world will appreciate.
Peace.
Balam Kenter
Istanbul, Turkey
My name is Kadriye Kenter. I am an actress from Istanbul, Turkey. Chelsea Manning is the collective conscience of the whole world. Please pardon her because telling the truth should not be a crime.
My name is Sara Warnquist and I am a student at the Pennsylvania State University. I am studying Social Psychology, International Development, and Political Science...I am a social, environmental, and political activist...I support CHELSEA Manning because the United States is supposed to be a democracy and we have the right to know how our country is supporting us in the international realm. We have the right to condone or condemn acts of violence. We have the right to say whether or not our country should go to war. We have been denied that right time and time again and Chelsea's acts have helped to remove the veil of secrecy over the inner workings of our military. She is a martyr for human rights and keeping her behind bars is an atrocious disgrace to this country and all that it is SUPPOSED to stand for. I am a poet, a Green Party member, and above all...an advocate for peace and equality. Pardon Chelsea Manning.
Kareim, Oakland CA, "I support Chelsea because we have a right to know what the government is doing in our name."
Vancouver, Canada
Chelsea Manning acted in good conscience, and her actions have had a positive effect. - Mislav, Chicago
My name is Ian Blumberg-Enge. Im a student in Oakland California and i support Chelsea Manning for her courage to do what is right.
I'm a spaniard student who values the rights the status of citizenship entails; Pvt. Manning behavior should help update the somewhat outdated military law and apply to her retroactively allowing her freedom.
Stephen Funk, LA, California.
Toby Blomé, El Cerrito, CA: "Chelsea should be pardoned for acting out of conscience and a deep sense of responsibility to bring truth to the public, against great odds. We all celebrate her courage."
Kathy Labriola, Berkeley, CA: "Chelsea risked her life and sacrificed her freedom to stop killing and torture; She is my hero!"
Julie Fisher, San Francisco, CA: Chelsea Manning should be pardoned because, "Whistleblowers save lives and stop injury."
Ingrid Pollyak, Berkeley, CA: Chelsea Manning should be pardoned because, "Truth-telling is not a crime!"
Blake Bogert & Max Ventura, San Leandro, CA: "Chelsea brought out the truth and has safe-guarded my children for their future."
