One of my best holoform decisions has been on Drift though.
Perceptor blinks slowly, somewhat confused about the other’s presence- but not exactly looking at a gift zaphorse in the proverbial oral cavity. Still, slim fingers interlace in his lap- giving Drift his full attention. The cubes are noted, looked at with mild interest- but he doesn’t have much of an appetite.
He lets a flicker of gratitude ripple over his field.
“Apologies,” he murmurs finally, after a moment’s lingering silence. “I’m afraid I have somewhat forgotten most social mannerisms. I’ve been working on my experiment.”
It’s obvious Perceptor almost continues, but a nearly audible click of his jaw cuts off the possible torrent like a dam, and a small rueful smile takes it’s place.
“Appreciated, Drift- but I have already fueled.”
A lie, but not one that anyone would know unless they had managed to hack the security cameras.
“You should partake of it yourself,” that soft tone continues, this time turning the concern back towards the Ex-Decepticon.
A hard life lived in the worst parts of Rodion, existing fueling to fueling on the worst quality of energon and watching others, sometimes even giving up his own in the case of the few he thought more of than himself has imprinted on Drift a sense about people. It isn't viewing auras or the shift in one's optics or anything like that.
It's a certain quiet deference. A way of brushing off care or intention. His audial flares tip back slightly, head tipping, the catlike sharpness of his gaze never wavering.
He closes the box, but he doesn't put it away. He simply places it carefully on the desk instead.
"I fueled already. When I meditated, this morning." He, at least, is being perfectly honest. "But I hadn't seen much of you lately, so I thought I'd stop in."

The scientist manages to belay his surprise at being visited. It’s a faint flicker of his field, a ripple of the electromagnetic aura that Drift is sensitive to- a change from the dull grey it had been with a flex of orange. It takes a moment for him to pull himself out of the academic fugue to gently turn off the magnification device and make sure the delicate parameters of the experiment won’t be accosted by his inattenativity.
His words are polite, and somewhat curious as they regard Drift’s presence. The reticule before his right optic brightens a little as he takes in the familiar red-and-white plating.
“Hello Drift,” tone soft in volume. “What can I do for you?”
"Nothing. Can't I check on a friend?"
It's a simple statement, his tone level. Those bright gold optics focus on Perceptor's face, searching for something... and then he unspaces a small box. It's not a crystal, or incense. Inside are some candies, one he's kept on him for specific reasons.
Opening the box, he offers up the fluorite-looking cubes to the scientist, audial flares remaining tipped back as he keeps his attention focused on Perceptor's face.
He's no medic, or therapist. All he can offer is himself. A friend. Nothing more, nothing less.
"Here. If you'd like some."

Rhythmic Gymnastics
Perceptor has come out of his self-imposed isolation. He had, of course, spent the holiday by himself and somewhat holed up in his lab for a good while. Afterwards, he’d fueled and quite simply blitzed himself into a stupor in front of his heating unit in his quarters.
The hangover the next morning had not quite been worth it, but he had methodically taken care of that too. For now, he’s shaken off the holiday doldrums and is currently back in his lab, working on a personal project. He’s set an alarm to remind him to fuel up halfway through the shift.
Emotions, he decides, are useless things that get in the way of scientific progress. Perhaps, despite the horrific Empurata—
— Shockwave had it right.
He doesn't normally seek people out directly.
But he's got a keen optic, and even he can drop the "woo woo" act when he recognizes something might be amiss with a person he thinks highly of. Which is why he's gone looking for Perceptor, considering him suspicious in his absence.
Not suspicious in a way that makes his hackles raise, but in a sense that he's... concerned.
His steps are cautious when he does enter the lab, modified just enough so that he can be heard as he slips over, pulling up a stool to sit near his old comrade.
No words. Just a quiet presence, audial flares tipped back.
In bright red paper that sparkles with flecks of fiery gold, there's a gift for Rodimus from Drift. The note inside is simple. "It's a bridge crystals. They serve as a bridge between our inner and outer selves, our world and the spiritual world, and between ourselves and others. I hope you like it."
Rodimus stares at the crystal after he opens it.He loves it. He loves it so much. Its going on his desk and he’s going to make sure its prominently in place. He even keeps the note so he can explain how its a ‘bridge’ between him and others. And he’s going to make Magnus so uncomfortable with how important it is that he intimately connects~ with his crew and command staff. So it must be VERY prominently placed for all that important energy receiving. :: I love my gift and its staying on my desk forever. ::A picture of it right on his desk at the front edge.
Rodimus stares. Yesss he’s staring at the message on his pad, jaw on his desk. Looking between the crystal and the message. He types the first message he can think of. :: So like on me, you or vice versa cause I mean gotta connect right?:: Then pauses after its sent. He slam his helm on his desk. :: IGNORE THAT!::
Drift can't help but laugh to himself, moving to lounge back on the couch in his hab, swirling his claws through the incense smoke drifting through the room.
He adores Rodimus. He has for a long time. As much as he adored Megatron, and adores Ratchet.
His surprising fluster is... endearing.

He's just come out of doing some meditative katas. While the crystals may be bunk, and he's aware they're bunk, he does enjoy reading about the supposed meanings to give them out to people.
That one, though, he'd chosen for different, far more specific reasons. Sheathing the swords on his back, he cracks his neck.

Drift's sending crystals to people as Christmas presents and I'm fearing for my search history after, looking up woo woo crystal stuff.
A thought that just occurred to me that I'll share here now:
Yes, Drift did convert to Spectralism, and he does very much enjoy it. The crystals, though, he just finds fun.
Half the time he places them all over to be a pest to people who've been bothering him.
He sneezes.
Must be something in his vents.
Rodimus’ spoiler flickers. Sparks ghost over the metal. His fingers drum… He settles slowly. Optics flickering again, the reticle blowing out wide before going back to normal with a hum of his engine.
And then there's a best friend leaning against the desk, grinning one of those fangy grins arms folded across his chest plating as his audial flares tip up and then lean back.
"We need to do more training together, don't we?"

Rodimus whips his helm around. Optic reticle narrowing, darting around. Did he hear someone? He pauses carving a glyph into his desk.
Don't mind the knifecat slinking up behind you, Rodimus.
It's nothing.
He's just very very quiet.

I think I've said it before but it begs saying again, Drift is effectively a feral cat who's only recently been touch acclimated and is willing to bite the absolute shit out of anyone if he's pushed too far.
