Alex nodded and smiled; she liked the Moroi. 

"What are your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?" Alex asked, getting to know Paris.

Paris narrowed her eyes, trying to think of something concrete. Well, that was definitely a hard one. "Um... I'm trying to learn combat and how to control my element, since I suck at that. I also like long walks before the sun sets, something like a morning walk. I don't do much. You?" She asked, weirdly not feeling the always present need to force herself to ask that. It came naturally, sort of like an actual curiosity.

"Maybe if you ask more specifically I can better answer your questions. Because with what you’ve given me I just have a vague description."

Paris finally made eye contact, giving him the 'really' look. "Seriously? I just told you, I wanna learn how to use my element in fighting purposes. I have problems controlling it. When I freak out I immediately set something on fire. Obviously that isn't something I'm proud of. So, I've heard you were good at it, plus you're willing to help get Moroi involved without giving me the whole 'Moroi don't fight, we just sit like lazy ass fuckers and wait for dhampirs to die for us' crap."

"Does that actually work for you?" he asked, "You vaguely point things out and people are eager to help you?"

Paris grinned again, the grin showing that he was still annoying her. "Yes, because I set them on fire and they know that they weren't supposed to joke around with me." She looked ahead, getting lost in her thoughts for a second. She saw her dad again, and quickly tried to get her mind off of him, which resulted in her hissing out loud.  "So, are you willing to help or not?" She asked, still not looking at him.

Alex nodded. If it made Paris feel more better and more comfortable being pessimistic, so be it. “Yeah, I understand. You’re okay that way so…” she trailed off and shrugged lightly then smiled. “Anyway, enough with all this talk. We should change the subject, no?”

Paris nodded gratefully, thankful she accepted her nature without trying to push her own thoughts and ideals upon the fire user.  "Yes, definitely." She agreed as she looked at the blue eyed Moroi. She caught herself looking over at a nearby standing tree very often.

He rolled his eyes. “I would if I had any. And for someone talking about sarcasm that statement went right over your head.”

"Actually, no, it was overtly long, but I’m glad you’ve gotten to the point of your speech. What do you want from me besides confirmation of me using my magic in battle?"

Paris glared at him, before raising her eyebrows in an 'I see' way. Basically it was her face's reaction to realising that everyone was right when they said Christian was hard to talk to. And she thought she was pain in the ass.  "Then calm something else that you probably have..." She grinned ironically, talking about the male genitals. 

"Ugh... what do you think, smartass?" She asked, crossing her arms. She looked around, taking in their environment. She looked back at Christian, before sitting on the ground.  "If you don't mind..." She murmured.

Alex shrugged. “Maybe. From the way I see it, realism is expecting the worst but it doesn’t change your personality, it just prepares you. That doesn’t mean you don’t hope for the best. You do. So, you’re not blindly optimistic but also, you’re not fully pessimistic, seeing everything negatively. You get me?” she asked, not fully sure she explained herself well. “It’s not easy to think that way, but I think it’s worth the try, no?” She smiled softly.

Paris listened to what she had to say, feeling herself shrug. In a more 'makes kind of sense' way. "I feel you, makes kind of sense. But I prefer it pessimistic." She shrugged again, this time showing that it was something she wasn't planning on changing. "I don't really have the background to ever try to be realistic or optimistic."

I was actually the one who decided to move to LA. Mom and I were driving on Sunset Boulevard during one of our trips back to see her family, and I said, ‘Can we just stay?’ So we did.
