Fourth artwork of my Pop Art and Comic Art inspired series complete! Another 10 canvases to go and cannot wait to get started. This series focuses on identity and repression of self-repression in society, themes that I feel strongly about.
This canvas was, as usual, painted with synthetic-polymer paints from Dulux Paints, painted onto Primed Linen Canvas on a solid timber frame. The dimensions of this artwork are around 90 cm (width) x 110 cm (height).

Masakazu Shirane and Saya Miyazaki make a giant Kaleidoscope inside a Shipping Container
For the Kobe Biennial’s Art Container Contest, numerous designers were challenged to create an environment with the confines of a standard international shipping container. Designers Masakazu Shirane and Saya Miyazaki decided to create a gigantic kaleidoscope that people could walk inside and experience (sort of like the entrance to Tokyo Plaza).
But it wasn’t just about putting mirrors at every angle so the environment would radically change as people walked through it, explains Shirane. “We wanted to create the world’s first zipper architecture. In other words, this polyhedron is completely connected by zippers. And in order to facilitate even more radical change some of the surfaces open and close like windows.”

What a wonderful surprise I got when I was told I was in the Herald Sun news paper today! Such a wonderful feeling and such a shock! A little bit daunting knowing that so many people read the Herald Sun and my face and artwork is in it in for everyone to see haha such a weird yet wonderful feeling
Danny Galieote was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA where he has been working out of his studio professionally for over 20 years. He is a figurative painter of the modern American scene and has a strong background in drawing and painting. Galieote has also been an animator for the Walt Disney Animation Studios for more than a dozen years working on such films as, The Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Tarzan, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Home on the Range, Princess and the Frog and Tangled.
My paintings are hunting for a narrative and because of the way they’re cropped, the characters can be anyone, including the viewer…

The property is a collection of eroded clay hills and protected watershed zones blanketed with a dense field of hawthorn and native grasses. It is not picturesque, but tough and rather impenetrable."

Playing around with shape, shadows and lighting using an A5 piece of print standard paper. Technique used was just cutting strips into the paper and looping them over and over each other again and again (with the aid of tape) so create this corkscrew effect/helix effect.

Took a long time to do this! All shading done with pen also.
I love playing around with drawing homes from a front view; it means I must challenge myself to create depth only through rendering and shading, not primarily through perspective.
