A bounty of shareware targeted at a variety of potential users, from “The Starving Artist” to “The Tortured Temp” to “The Misunderstood Poet” to “The Cellar-Dwelling Wirehead” to “The Rabid Evangelist,” featured in this issue. There was also an article about creating a miniature “special effects epic” in QuickTime using Macintosh software. “The other Robin Williams” (a female author who’d written several books about the Mac) provided an article complaining about her experiences upgrading to Windows 98. The news section led off with an enthusiastic report about Apple’s $101 million profit for the third quarter, a matter of selling 644,000 Macs (including about 140,000 “toothsome All-In-One” Power Macs).
