hogwarts houses & autumn aesthetics
gryffindor. oversized jumpers; roasting marshmallows over a crackling fire; laughing hysterically while pumpkin carving; the smell of cinnamon and baking; playing in puddles with bright gumboots; hair blowing wildly in the wind; cute beanies with pom poms; warm, rosy cheeks; burning your tongue when you sip a hot drink too quickly; early morning runs; worn, flannel shirts; pretending to be a dragon with clouds of warm breath in the cold air
hufflepuff. long, woollen socks; vanilla-scented candles; a warm blanket over your shoulders; jumping into a pile of autumn leaves; fluffy earmuffs; creamy hot chocolate with whipped cream on top; hanging fairylights everywhere; playing with your pet on a warm rug; thick mittens; a warm bath to relax after a long day; the crunching of leaves underfoot; capturing the image of dancing leaves with a vintage camera
ravenclaw. people-watching through foggy windows in cafés; reading a favourite book by candlelight; long, thick scarves; staying up late to play board games; wandering aimlessly under falling leaves; oversized, knitted cardigans; muted sunlight filtered through autumn leaves; late nights binging on netflix; a chilly wind freezing the tip of your nose; scribbling in notebooks under overcast skies; the natural silence of the woods; the dancing tendrils of steam from a mug of hot tea
slytherin. cold and misty mornings; warming your hands on a mug of hot coffee; dark lip colours; the dance of walking barefoot across a cold floor; stylish, long overcoats; falling asleep to the pattering of rain on the window; meandering wooded roads; lace-up leather boots; the flickering of candlelight in the dark; lying on a tartan blanket while listening to music through headphones; burying yourself in soft, warm blankets at the end of the day

Parker & Ryan | Courtyard
The sky was gloomy, clouds hung heavy overhead. The moist air was cool, raindrops had just begun to dance atop the pavement. The grey light caused Parker to squint as he took his first steps out of the castle. It had been a long day, two tests, both of which he was not properly prepared for was weighing heavily on his mind. He sat down on the first bench he could find, he sighed deeply and glanced around as the other students bustled about chatting with one another, carrying their book, laughing. Parker couldn’t help but think he was the only one who had had a bad day. He placed his books underneath the bench, not wanting to look at the for another second. He tapped his finger on the top of the bench with the pattern of the raindrops.
The cool breeze was quite refreshing, his robes had kept him warm throughout the day inside the classrooms, but now he was flushed and sweating, so he discarded the robes and hide them were his books were. The wind cooled down the boy, tousling his long hair as the swept through the courtyard. Parker closed his eyes, listening to the sounds of the birds and other students. A few minutes passed and the courtyard went quiet, Parker had almost fallen asleep listening the chirping of the birds and the rhythmic tapping of the rain. He only opened his eyes when he felt someone else sit beside him, he peaked through one eye and realized it was Ryan. “Oi. there yah ‘re. I reckoned you weren’t coming out ‘ere on account of the rain.” he spoke as a yawn crept up on his, he stretched out his arms, nearly smacking the person beside him. “’Ow was yer day, then?”
Parker and Ryan | The Library
parker-avery-dawson:
Parker jumped on to his broom as Ryan soared pass him. He laughed as he pushed his feet off the ground, his body seemed lighter, more free when he was flying. Parker had always been a decent flyer, but not quite talented enough to play on the quidditch team, although it had been something he wished to do since he saw his first game. He was high above the sidewalk now, the icy air felt like razors slicing his skin,”Oi, it’s bloody cold! I dunno if I can make it all tha way ta Hogsmeade! Bloody ‘ell, I’m a wanker, forgettin’ me jacket!” He cursed himself again, and rolled his eyes. The two boys were flying quickly, the Lake seemed to zoom beneath them, the black water was still like glass as Parker glanced down to it, the reflection of the moon shimmered perfectly, lighting the way for him.
The Forest looked as foreboding as ever, the thick trees made it difficult to see any of the creatures that lived there, all there was, was the essence of the fires they had to keep them warm. “Pahker, dew yew think that tha people in tha forest feel left out?” The boy held on tight to his broom as he looked down heavily at the tree line below him, he shook his head, thinking,” Well.. maybe.. I reckon tha student who use ta go ta school ‘ere wish they could go inside. But I ‘uppose tha ones who ‘ave never been don’t really know what their missin’, yeah? I reckon they ‘ave fires ta keep warm, and they ‘ave ‘ouses! So, that’s good, I don’t think they ‘ave too much troubles livin’ there.” Parker knew Ryan was interested in the creatures that resided in the forest. He had seen him read about vampires and werewolves. Parker also shared this interest, although his was more geared to Dragons and animal-like creatures. They passed the forest now, nearing the town. Even now, before Hogsmeade was in view, the boy could his faint singing and the smell of home cooked meals hung in the air lightly.
He took his hands off his broom for a moment, he wiggled his fingers, hoping they wouldn’t break off in pieces. He was like an icicle now, his cheeks were flushed scarlet, his nose was running, he had to use his arm to wipe it every few seconds. He blinked rapidly as the wind made his eyes water from the cold. “Oi, yer me best friend, yer ‘uppose to remind me ta bring my jacket! I ‘ave never been so cold! It huuurts!” He whined to Ryan. Shivering, and giving a deep inhale through his nose, he could see the glowing of the town beneath him. “Well, I tired out! In third year, yeah? I think… I don’t remember.. But I know I did! But I wasn’t good enough! I think we should practice more and try out next year!” He looked to his best friend and gave a toothy grin. “Oi, I take offence ta that, yah shit! I would get up ta play Quidditch, yah know that!” He laughed, it was hard to get Parker out for anything. He would only willingly arise early from his warm comfortable bed for three things; Christmas, good food, and quidditch. Parker laughed brightly thinking about Ryan on a team. It was on thing when they played with just the two of them, or s few of their friends, but to do it with people who took it seriously, that would be something to get use to.
Parker’s arms were practically frozen in place, but he managed to curve up and do a loop around Ryan, then he plunged down to the streets below. He pulled up right before the ground came under his feet, he landed gently, shivering as his feet left a print in the shallow snow. “Oh look it Pahker! Its sew christmasy! Mum would love it here! Could yew imagine! She’d buy everytin in tha stores! Parker could feel his body warming up, despite the freezing air and falling snow. Just the thought of Christmas brought a smile to his face and a warmth to his tummy. He was grinned ear to ear when he said,”It’s almost Christmas already! I can’t wait for yer mum’s dinner!” He licked his lips,”We can bring ‘ome some butterbeer, yeah?! ‘Nd we should get tha lads some candy frum Honeydukes!” He held his broom by his elbow and rubbed his hands together quickly. “Oi, let get inta tha restaurant or I’ll be frozen before I can eat!”
As they two walked into the door of the Three Broowmsticks, Parker really noticed the decorations, wreaths on every door and lamp posts, set ups in the windows, Christmas trees decorated with popcorn and cranberries. When Parker opened the door, the first thing he felt was heat, he exhaled and smiles again. It was smokey inside from the smoking, chicken and potatoes with butter filled up the whole room. Cheering and singing boomed off the walls,”Oi, you should ‘ave brought yer guitar!” The crowed was singing,”Oh Come all Ye Faithful,” to which Parker joined in right away, it was one of his favourite carols. He sang as he sat down at the table in the back. “May I take your order?” He heard a voice ask. He looked over to a pretty blonde girl holding a not pad. The boy smiled charmingly and said,”Yes, darlin’, I’ll ‘ave a butterbeer ta start, ‘nd I ‘ave whatevers’ tha dinner special!”
"She was cute, eh?" Ryan squinted his eyes and shrugged. "Very American though. Shes gots a thicker accent than me! Haha. I wonda why she’s all way up here? Especially wif this war goin’ on right?" The crowd had switched songs, but Ryan was unfamiliar with it. "Everyone is in such a good mood today, I wuna why. It cant just be because Christmas is soon. " The petite blonde waitress, came back to their table with a tray holding their drinks. "Here ya go boys! Ya’lls food will be here shortly, okay?" She gave the two of them a smile, but as she passed she gave Parker a wink. "OH HO. did yew see that? She passed yew a wink! She thinks yer a cutie" The Ravenclaw wiggled in his seat, staring down his large pint of hot cocoa, the top absolutely covered in fluffy whipped cream. "Pahkers got a crushh, " He sang as he swung his feet back and forth under the table.
On the other side of the wooden walls, enormous snowflakes fell aggressively onto the white floor. The large evergreens of the forest were absolutely covered in snow. “Oi, we are gonna get snowed it! Look at em snowflakes! As big as me fist! I bet mums house is just covered eh? I hope the roof aint leakin’ like last year. Dew yew remeba that? ” The christmas before, it had snowed so hard that Ryan’s roof began to leak all through out the house. Parker, Ryan and their dads had to climb up onto the frozen roof and try to reassemble the roof. Not only was it cold out, it was slippery too! Ryan damn near killed him, or so he says. “That christmas was rough. Pahker what was yer favourite christmas? I think mine was the very first one you came too, I was always stuck playing wif tha girls, bloody murder thats what it was. Oh Merlin’s beard. They tortured me thats what it was, it was torture. Bloody girls. Then yew came. That was a good year.”
Yet again, The waitress came along with a tray full of food, because of course the boys managed to order the biggest meals. Ryan clapped vigorously, “Oi! This thing is huge!” The boy exclaimed as the woman dropped his plate down in front. A large seasoned steak too nearly the whole plate, along with a large mountain of mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. “I just love ‘ow they make their food here. It’s great! What did you get?”
Parker smiled as the waitress walked away. "Oi, she was a looker, wasn't she?" he said tapping his fingers on the table along with the music of the crowd. The singing made it difficult to hear exactly what Ryan was saying, but he was good enough at reading lips to know what he was talking about. "I reckon it's jus' the Christmas spirit! Everyone bein' 'appier because it's coming! Jus' lookin' at all tha decorations is enough ta get me smilin'! Parker noticed the girl coming back around to the boys table with their drinks. "Thank you, lovely!" Parker exclaimed, giving the girl a ear to ear smile. He put his fingers around his drink, they cooled down in an instant. The pub was stuffy with sweat and food, warm from the cooking and many bodies that occupied the space. The drink was refreshing as the boy took his first sip. "OH HO. did yew see that? She passed yew a wink! She thinks yer a cutie" Parker felt his cheeks flush with red, he wasn't embarrassed. "Reckon I got a chance with 'er?" he questioned, taking another sip of his butterbeer. "Oi, shove off, yah wanker. She's a cutie, though! I reckon I'll ask 'er out before we go, yeah?"
Parker looked to the outside window as well, surely enough, giant flakes of snow fell heavily down, covering the window-sill in a shimmering white powder. "Oi, I reckon I wouldn't mind spendin' tha night 'ere, get antiquated with tha' girl" Parker saw the waitress filling up a wizards goblet, and he gave her toothy grin, as he lifted his drink to his lips. "I remember that!" he laughed slapping his knee lightly," 'Nd he 'ad ta go up onta tha roof! Bloody freezin' it was!" Parker fluffed his hair with his fingers as he recalled the Christmas before." 'Nd wheh you almost fell off tha roof, 'nd I 'had ta catch yah! I thought you were gunna slide right off tha bloody 'ouse! Straight into tha snow yah would've gone!" His cheeks were rosy from the warmth of the pub and the happiness of Christmas time. Parker was especially excited for this one, he had planning something special for his sister, Norah this year. "I knew ther' was a reason that we're bestfriends! That's tha Christmas that's been me favourite so far! We got to buy stuff from Hogsmeade fer tha firs' time, 'nd I got ta show Norah all the magical things! She was so 'appy! Yer mum made tha best Christmas dinner! I reckon it was even bett'r than the food they make 'ere! Ah! Girls, make yer life trouble, they will! Lil wankers," he joked, sipping on his drink,"They're wonderful though, yah 'ave ta say."
Just then Parker saw a plate of delicious looking goodies coming towards the table. The waitress placed their food gently on the table, a rush of smells made their way to the boys nose,"That smells so good, thank you, love!" He clapped his hands together in anticipation as he licked his lips. The girl handed his plate to him, "What did you get?” Parker looked down, because he was not quite sure what he had ordered,"Ah, I asked fer tha special but didn't look ta see what it was!" There in front of him sat a crispy roasted potatoes cut in perfect cubes, a juicy, succulent pieces of chicken along with steamed vegetables."Chicken, perfect jus' what I was in tha mood for!" The girl smiled to the boys as they began to eat their meals,"Well I hope ya'll enjoy your food" she exclaimed with a smile. As she was turning away, Parker spoke up,"Oi, sorry miss, I don't think we caught yer name, 'ave we?" The girl stopped and turned back to them, "Sorry darlin' my name is Mary. What about yourself, then?" Parker pointed a finger to himself, then to the boy across from him,"I'm Parker, 'nd this guy 'ere is Ryan, pleasure ta meet yah, Mary." The bustle of the crowd, men and woman asking for their order to be taken, and drinks to be filled. "Sorry hunny, I have to get back to work, how about I'll fill your drinks for you, on the house." She told them, as she tip toed away, Parker caught her giving him another wink.
"Oi, I tell yah, she's a pretty one! Mary 'er name is. I like that name." He said as he stuffed potatoes dipped in ketchup into his mouth. "I reckon she'll say yes ta go fer a drink with me. Hey, what 'appened ta the blonde girl yah were seein'? The one from yer potions class?" Parker recalled a very lovely girl that Ryan had been seeing for a couple weeks, she was quiet, liked to keep to her books, just like Ryan.

[Leroy tapped his thumb against the table.] It still takes a bit of effort to understand what you are saying, but I can usually understand without much effort.
Ah, well, my Christmas isn’t quite as…busy as yours. I mostly sit around, go for walks, or try and convince my father and brother to go to town with me. There’s usually a lot of yelling and fighting, once in a blue moon we will sit down and have a decent Christmas meal. It’s actually quite awkward.
[Parker laughs again, he was use to people not being able to know what he was saying] Oi, well I glad it's not too much trouble fer you ta know what I'm sayin'
[Parkers laugh fades, and the goes quiet for a moment] Yellin' and fightin', what do yah 'ave ta fight 'bout on Christmas? Must be awfully important.. I feel bad yer yah, fella. I mean not fer yah to take offense, I jus' mean that everyone deserves ta 'ave a good Christmas..
Yeah! And It’s okay, neither am I really.
That’s not very nice! Lots of people are like that, and most just don’t understand… s’ rubbish, but what can ya do, eh?
An’ they most defiantly are! Who woulda thought. [Nick chuckles, and walks towards the general direction of the food.] I know there’s something that I really want, but I just can’t remember what is is. I know its something I’ve had before, but it’s just been a long time. Do you ever get that feeling? It’s so annoying!
[Parker shrugged] Can't do much, I reckon.
I got that feelin' all tha time, fella! Is it food or somethin'? [Parker looked to the food, hearing his stomach grumble]
