“Stop being such a baby, it’s almost dawn,” you teased as Riki whined about being tired for the third time in the last hour. “This was your idea in the first place, now you have to stick with it. I didn’t do all of this setting up for nothing.
And you were right, your living room set up was absolutely immaculate. You had an array of both of your favorite snacks on the floor in front of you. Why were you on the floor? Because you set up a bunch of pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals on the floor so you and Riki could release your inner children. There were fairy lights around the room for lighting, the only other light in the room being the tv. Speaking of the tv, you had a list of all of the movies you could watch in the notes app in your phone.
“I didn’t say ‘we should stay up all night long with your annoying-ness bothering me the whole time,’’’ Riki griped dramatically. “I said we should see how late we can stay up. Not this absolute torture.”
You rolled your eyes at him and grabbed one of the pillows off the floor. He started to complain more, but you just slapped the pillow across his face.
“What the- baby!” He yelled and grabbed his own pillow, hitting your stomach with it so hard that you were shocked that feathers didn’t explode like confetti everywhere. “You are on.”
You laughed and stood up, climbing on the couch. You grabbed a huge stuffed tiger off he floor that Riki won for you at an arcade one time, because he said that he’s “like big cats”. He liked to act all big and tough, but you knew he had the spirit of a little duckling on the inside.
“Well, you’re going down then,” you challenged. You hurled the tiger at him with so much force you almost fell backward onto the soft couch cushions. You flopped down on your back with a laugh, and Riki climbed up on the couch and grinned at you before grabbing you from beneath your arms and picked you up.
He lifted both of your arms up with one hand and tickled your armpits until you were crying of laughter. He let go of you and sat down on the couch beside you.
“What time is it,” Riki asked as he wrapped an arm around you, pulling you closer to his chest.
“Almost six,” you replied. “Wanna break the rules a little?”
Riki asked, a devilish glint in his eyes.
“Let’s sneak up to the roof and watch the sunrise.”
You both slipped on your matching slippers that you insisted that you two got when you were at the mall one time. They were nothing much, just puppy dog slippers with different colors. Yours were white and Riki’s were brown. But they were adorable, nonetheless.
You both grabbed a blanket and snuck through the apartment halls, whispering quietly about other times you’d broken the rule together. Riki eventually made it to the door to the roof and waved you over.
“y/n, do the honors,” he whispered, stifling his quiet giggles with his large hand.
You unlocked the door with the credit card trick and you both went up to the rooftops, just in time to see the most gorgeous sunrise ever. The sky was an array of warm colors. Orange, red, hot pink, and the clouds were a stunning cotton candy pink that made you want to reach up and take one down from the sky.
You both sat down on the floor (is it really a floor if it’s a roof?) and wrapped yourselves up in your blankets, limbs tangling together. You guys stayed there in silence for probably 30 minutes, just watching the sunrise fade into day.
“Baby,” Riki mumbled softly while he rubbed your shoulder with his warm hand.
“What’s up?” You replied quietly, head resting on his shoulder. It was clear you both desperately needed sleep.
“C’mon, let’s go to bed. But we made it.”
