Join our Crochet workshop at Particle Press Studio
We are really looking forward to hosting this crochet workshop in our studio with the lovely Kitty Clarke on Saturday the 20th of June. PP Workshops
Here are some photos from our latest Lampshade Workshop. We had a lovely afternoon! The next workshops are the 9th of May, the 13th June & the 18th of July. Places are booking up already, but you can book your place here.
We are also very excited to be hosting a crochet workshop in the studio, led by Kitty Clarke. You can come along and learn all the basics of crochet, and take home a coaster! You can book a place for this by clicking here.
A quick update from PP HQ! I am currently sitting in my garden (my outdoor office) watching the swallows dart gracefully overhead, and a very daft pheasant saunter around the garden! ‘Spring has most definitely and most wonderfully sprung’ ( to quote one of my daughters favourite books!)
I had a lampshade workshop at the weekend, which was very enjoyable. I met some lovely people, and they made some lovely shades! I have also been busy catching up on orders, and have got a bit obsessed with designing endless repeat patterns. I’m not sure when i will decide what to print, but in the meantime i will just keep making them, as they are so much fun! I was hoping to have my new work ready for Spring, but alas, its taking much longer! I am now planning to have it all ready in August.
I recently made a PP Tipi for my daughter, using my ‘Hedgerow’ fabric. She seems to love it! It was very simple to make, albeit a lot of fabric! I bought the pattern from a seller on ETSY called LW Patterns. If you fancy having a go, click here! I thoroughly recommend it if you have a wee one, and the instructions are very easy to follow.
Most days are spent with my beautiful little girl, and this means lots of lovely adventures to find inspiration for when i can actually get work made! We have been enjoying the Magnolia trees, blossom and blackthorn. Edith has mostly been enjoying blowing dandelions! (She had been eating biscuit in this photo......hence the messy face and t-shirt! I give up, its just too hard to keep them clean!)

I am very excited to start making these in to cushions, lampshades, zip bags and other delights! I really enjoy this time of year, and the flowers that are popping through the ground in my wee garden are the inspiration for my new colour palette! The Blossom, Magnolia and Camellias that are gracing these parts at the moment are beautiful too, and Edith and I have really been enjoying our walks amongst these beautiful blooms!
I also had a new studio sign made by the lovely Suzi at muddy creek signs. It is hand painted on to slate. Isn’t it a work of art?!

We are slowly getting there with our new range of fabrics and designs. I think i underestimate the amount of work these things take, especially with a 16 month old clambering up to my desk to 'help' me! In late spring we hope to launch new fabrics to sell by the metre, which we will also be making in to lampshades, cushions, and possibly the odd bit of upholstery! We are currently working on new designs for our screen printed lampshades. We will be trying out lots of new sizes! Recently we have been making some small, 15cm shades using the old fabric designs, and they seem to be going down really well with our stockists. Alongside all this, we will be launching a new website too, so there is lots to do!
I am really looking forward sharing the new designs, I'll try and stick to the deadline! My little Edith permitting!
Lampshade Workshops 2015
We are now hosting some 'Bespoke Lampshade Making Workshops' in our studio near Falmouth in Cornwall!
Come to our beautiful studio nestled in the countryside, and create a bespoke and unique lampshade for your home! You will learn all the tips and tricks of the trade and learn how to beautifully construct a 30cm drum lampshade from scratch with your own fabric. It is an accessible way to liven up your home decor and can add a personal touch to your interior design.
We will supply the wire base and drum and all we need from you is your chosen fabric. You can choose to make your lampshade to hang from the ceiling or for a lamp base.
We also provide cups of tea and yummy homemade cake! The workshop lasts 2.5 hours, and costs £30.00

A beautiful holiday let in Cornwall......filled with Particle Press home wares...
Owl House is a peaceful retreat for two, deep in the countryside, near Constantine in Cornwall. This beautiful converted barn is decked out in Particle Press cushions, fabrics, lampshades and tea towels. This cottage offers a peaceful retreat, surrounded by green, where the stars fill the sky. (The Particle Press Print Studio is just at the bottom of the garden, so you can pop in and say hi! ) This lovely little house has a beautiful little garden to enjoy the sunshine in the summer, and a cosy log burner to keep you cosy in the winter.
You can hear the owls call, the songbirds sing and the buzzards mewing as they coast the thermal currents down the valley. You can reach the nearest village of Constantine along the footpath which runs over fields and bluebell woods. It is situated between Falmouth and Helston, so it is easy to explore the coastline on the North and South coast. There will be a fantastic welcome pack to greet you, including eggs, milk, cheese, cake, fresh coffee and bread.... and a few extra treats!

We are super excited to be making new zip bags with our screen printed and digitally printed fabrics. We are always expanding our range and designs, and we are currently working on designs for porcelain tiles, amongst other things! It's very exciting, I love screen printing, the possibilities are endless!

Cornwall Inspired
Cornwall Inspired will be a book showcasing some of the diverse talent found in this beautiful county. It will feature creatives making anything from amazing art, delicious food and drink to hand crafted surfboards. It will not only show their creations but tells the stories behind them and why they make here in Cornwall.
The people behind this book - (Studio Wallop) have launched a campaign to fund the production and publishing of this book. This project will only be funded if at least £18,000 is pledged by 12:56 pm on Wednesday the 9th April, 2014. More details can be found here. There are also special rewards if you are kind enough to pledge, and help launch this exciting project!
