My afghan parents today have been keeping up with the news, glued to the TV anticipating the next tragic headline. And you know what, I haven’t seen them shed a tear. The way afghans have been conditioned to war, tragedy, violence, and abandonment is telling. Again, my parents haven’t shed a single tear watching their beloved motherland fall right into the hands of terrorist, while the rest of the world remains silent. Think about how much tragedy and trauma one has endured to silently witness the most gut wrenching moment of your country’s history. It’s telling.

Never forget
I love plants. I have many of them and seeing them grow makes me so happy. I feel proud of myself for being able to care of them. Them growing is the best part of having plants.
Many years ago I found a Manga that has stuck to me to this day. When I first read it, I was fascinated,by how the author was able to draw so many details. The story is exceptionally unique and I got captivated by it pretty fast. But then I somehow lost this great Manga.
Over the years I gradually forgot the plot and only remembered the name since it’s so unique. A few months ago I decided that I wanted to reread it and so I did. Just like then I got completely immersed in this Manga. Not only for the plot but also it’s characters. You see, this Manga is set somewhere in central Asia and I am from central Asia. What I want to say is, that this manga is representing the cultures very similar to those of my ancestors and it does it in such a beautiful way. Even though the Manga isn’t exactly set in the land of my ancestors, I hope that someday the author decides to draw and tell a Brides story in Afghanistan and shows my home country the same beautiful way as the other countries. Nevertheless, I’m very grateful for the author Kaoru Mori for giving me Otoyomegatari.
