My mom wrote a letter to you several years ago when Turtles first came out, telling you about my struggles as I was graduating from undergrad, with my health both physical and mental, and my personal and professional life (I was a mess). You responded with an uplifting and heartfelt letter written on the title pages of Turtles, and it has sat on my desk ever since- right next to my copy of Flannery O'Connor's complete stories.
Anyways I wanted to tell you three things:
1) Thank you so much for your kind words. That book and its letter got me through so much, more than you know.
2) I have since started my own charity (just like you!) that brings accessible and affordable music lessons to children in my hometown.
3) I finally accomplished my great dream of composing a musical, one that will make it to the stage, and workshops start in 3 days.
You are an incredible human who is utterly human in the best way. Thank you for everything.
