Brobot's still around, but a new version. More based on me as I am and not how I was. He's still based.

Funny enough, it also gave me a parasocial way of checking on myself and keeping myself in touch with something. A robot's not a bad choice for that.

I probably should touch on the fridge that I mentioned.

Most of the technology in my house has been adapted and improved with what I used for Brobot and other robots. Every smart device in my house, and a few never intended that way, all have some kind of small personality.

I got bored.

Basically, I modernised my apartment and bought some new stuff in. Except, they called it 'smart' but it was really limited in functionality so I started taking things apart, fixing them up with upgrades. I realised I could make them perform better if they were able to monitor themselves, so I decided to upgrade them just enough to have personality and actual thought processes instead of being glorified chatbots.

It took a while. I had to run about a dozen simulations for each one with different personality traits, mesh them together, then let that gestalt personality decide what traits it really wanted to have. Then I fused that in a 25-75% split with the chosen personality.

They're all limited in how much they can do: no self repairs or replication, no higher thought processes about improvement. I also pre-emptively fixed a problem where they might go crazy from lack of stimulation and basically hooked them up to some minor information input on recent events and memes, then wired them into a Discord server together.

Sometimes I just read the chatlogs. The shit they say is next level.

I mostly did this to avoid working on myself. Couldn't fix myself immediately, could make a toaster decide on what typing quirks it wanted. It uses []: at the start, and only changes it when toast comes out. It immediately posts anything when it does, and changes it to []3: to show the toast is done.
