Leave me in the forest and let me rot. My mind will slowly quiet, my life will flash before my eyes, and then I’ll be energy— I’ll be the soil, leaves, trees, animals, and the wind that kisses your cheek.

My flesh will start to form little holes for other creatures to get nourishment from, the muscles of my body will be exposed, my tendons will melt with the passing seasons, and then I’ll be bones. I’ll be so beautiful like that. I’ll be part of everything and nothing at the same time.

I loathe the burden of a body, not in a self-destructive sense, but because I reject the very notion of physical existence. I do not wish to inhabit form; I long to be an unseen presence, a whisper in the periphery, a quiet force shaping the world from the shadows.

I renounce identity, gender, the human body, no matter the shape I take, people fail me all the same. So I shall become whatever grants me safety, whatever renders this imprisonment in flesh more tolerable, whether through fortune or sheer detachment.

I wish to be a tree, a rock, something immutable, unfeeling, untouched by the demands of thought, speech, or identity. Simply rock.
