Superman occupies the same place in my heart as the holiday season: that swelling feeling of hope despite all evidence to the contrary, of choosing for a moment, no matter how naïve it might be, to believe people are good and that we can be the best version of ourselves. To give into the fantasy that someone could be given all the power in the universe and use it to help cats out of trees. That a man who could punch the moon out of orbit instead decides to put a silly red cape on his goofy little dog and throw the stick around. Yeah, that trailer got me.
