Can't believe I never shared this here! This was a commission I did for a lovely follower over on Instagram back in 2023, and at the time it was the most complex custom I'd ever done.

This was a super fun furby to work on. I was given a moodboad and a general theme to work with, so I was able to take a few creative liberties when designing them.

i recently finished this commission for @lavvythejackalope !! thank you again for trusting me with this project :) this was such a fun custom to make, i loved working with all the rainbow colours and glitter 😭💖 this was probably one of the most complicated dye jobs i've ever done for a furby!! i was trying to create a rainbow gradient for the mane and tail, here's how it turned out:

Daisy is real! She's life-size, which since she's based on Kirby characters and Kirby is 20cm/8in tall, so is she.

Inside her body, I placed these in with her stuffing. On the left is Dark Matter, her true form.

On the right is a heart, with the name she has been given embroidered onto it.

The heart, I kept in my pocket during a family dinner, because in her Daisy form the people of Dream Land have been treating her as one of their own. Included and loved. The Dark Matter spent that same time in the freezer, alone in the dark and cold, as if in space.

To help her stand, I used those little weighted plastic pellets. And to keep those from escaping between the stitches, because they will, I encased them in hand sewn little cloth "beans" as I call them. It could have been any scrap fabric, but I chose a space print because she has walked among the stars

In her right hand is a little button shaped like a spider, because Daisy really enjoys watching bugs. It's one of the few joys she'll admit to indulging in. In her left hand is a felt Waddle Doo, the creature she is pretending to be. I haven't drawn her interacting with real Waddle Doos yet, but the way I imagine it they're very accepting of her as one of them, even though she's not the best at pretending to be one.

idea I wanna do one day: redesign and sculpt Discord if he were a G1 pony friend character

I feel like he'd be a lot simpler, less colors and details to make him cheaper to produce with 80's factory technology. Also a lot rounder and cutsier, especially as a pony friend as opposed to a cartoon-exclusive villain, like the original Tirek for example. He almost looks like a baby version of regular Discord.

Now if he was designed JUST as one of 80's villains, that would be a very different design. Probably like a more realistic looking eastern dragon, mildly scarier than his usual design.

Potentially could use both designs though. I feel like if he'd been on one of the cartoons back then, his plot could be he's a mischevious little draconequus who accidentally gets ahold magic he's not supposed to have. Turns into the scary dragon, but learns a lesson and gives up the magic to make friends with everyone. Cue reveal of cuter design the toy would use.

Asking because I know there are a of other challenge months, holidays, and so on that might make doing a daily photo challenge tricky.

It's impossible to entirely avoid an overlap with something else, but I want to make sure as many people as possible will feel able to participate. It's okay if that means it'll be a while before out first challenge starts! I'll just use the time to polish the plan more.

EDIT: I should probably have explained what this is for those who are new here. I'm attempting to plan a photo challenge month for toy collectors where you can only post about the toys you currently have, and cannot post about any new purchases. This is to encourage appreciating the items you own, and curb FOMO impulse buying instincts. Also maybe just to show off the toys you haven't photographed in a while. There will be themed prompts to go with it. I hope it will be fun!
